Tuesday's Racing Tips: Darlectable You (1st December)

Not too much going on today but a couple of horses worth noting.

2:40 Newcastle -

It's an interesting fact that certain horse owners just don't have bad horses and that is very much the case for Lord Lloyd Webber. Added to this point, Darlectable You, is a very well-bred filly the daughter of Group-winning Dar Re Mei, who was an excellent talent running seventeen times in her four-season career, achieving successes at the highest level and total earning of £2,698,880. This globe trotter made her presence felt wherever she traveled. An exceptional horses who has been the dam of rare talents such as Too Darn Hot, So Mi Dar & Lah Ti Dar.

Darlectable You is sires by Dubawi and you can safely say if this bay filly went through the sales she would have fetched near the million mark.

John Gosden trains this exiting prospect who is fancied in the betting.

If starting 6/4 and less SP I'd except this April foal to win. If a touch weak in the betting, I'd still expect a bold show.

It looks a fair race and a number of leading trainers are out to do their best and it makes for an interesting race over 1m 2f.

3:10 Newcastle -

I've got one horse I'm looking at here but betting or not on this son of Australia is dependent on the market. Hugo Palmer has been in rare form all season and I am always interested in his two-year-old on their second start as they are often primed to win. Oz Legend was nibbled in the market on debut at Kempton over one mile and after almost a month on the sidelines should make a positive return.

If priced 13/2 and less sp I'd expect this horse to run a big race and hold fair each-way claims. If outside this betting guide, I would have to give this one a miss. Very few of the stables juveniles win over 10/1 on their second start. If weak in the betting it could well be a negative.

It's difficult to know and you either take a punt and hope it's backed or wait until nearer the off.

Good look to connections.

6:50 Wolverhampton Racing Tips (13th Nov) 32RED.COM MAIDEN STAKES (Tapeta) (CLASS 5) (2yo)

Day 5 of the 30 Day Challenge. All horses are running well, hitting the frame, but could do with another winner or two.

A Maiden Stakes over 1m 141y on standard going. Nine two-year-olds: seven colts and two fillies from a mix of trainers. The majority have race experience.

John Gosden has been in fine form this season, including the exceptional Shalaa. Daily Bulletin is a January foal sired by Medaglia d'Oro out of a Grade 1 mare. This American-bred colt cost $140,000 at the 2014 September Keeneland Sales.

He ran over 7f on good to soft ground at Ascot in September when made favourite but slightly disappointing when beaten into fifth. That looked a fair race, especially compared with the majority of this field, and I would expect to see marked improvement for this extra distance and vital experience.

Gosden has a good string of juveniles and Daily Bulletin has been showing up well on the gallops and held in some regard by connections. Clarehaven Stables have done well with a select list of horses racing in the Godolphin silks.

The betting details this is a two-horse race. It could well be a blessing that Sir Michael Stoute's Across The Stars is a relatively short priced favourite. It would be bordering on madness to think Daily Bulletin will drift to an each-way price (ever the optimist). In fact, I would be tempted to take 9/4.

If punters get stuck into the favourite there could be more value to come but it is difficult to assess the markets. The statistics suggest that at 9/4 this colt is priced to chance but definitely a horse of some reputation and worth a bet. Ideal type to stick in an each-way double if you have a fancy to go with it.

5:25 Doncaster Racing Tips (10th Sept) DFS BRITISH STALLION STUDS EBF MAIDEN STAKES (Plus 10 Race) (CLASS 3) (2yo)

An EBF Maiden Stakes over one mile on good going. Eight two-year-olds: three raced and selection of debutantes from leading stables.

One horse catches the eye. Very Talented, trained by Saeed Bin Suroor. This bay colt is a son of Invincible Spirit out of an unraced mare.

Godolphin bred this juvenile at Darley and takes after his name -a horse going places.

A sterling effort over 7f at Goodwood, on debut, indicated a promising individual who would surely improve from starting odds of 20/1. He done very little wrong in the Convivial Maiden Stakes at York.

This February foal travelled with panache, if not a little keen, and held the edge over his rival until the final half furlong. Whether this extra furlong will bring further improvement is a matter of opinion. A number of flashy Group entries indicate that a mile is the trainer's preference. His major objectives are the Dewhurst Stakes Group 1 and Racing Post Trophy Group 1. Long term the 2000 Guineas is penciled in for the boys in blue.

Since his Convivial second to Luca Cumani's Beautiful Morning, he has been entered for two Stakes races and a Listed contest. A maiden should be pretty straightforward if those ambitious plans are to be considered.

Must take all the beating.

Linguistic races in the first colours for Godolphin, trained by John Gosden. This Irish bred son of Lope De Veag cost 650,000GNS and holds a couple of high-profile race entries. This bay colt isn't here to make up the numbers but it would need the favourite to disappoint or a smart horse to arrive to disappoint connections.

Conclusion: Hopefully Very Talented will settle over this extra furlong, which in my view is the only concern to his success at this level. Linguistic has ability and if priced at each way odds or around even money place could be a fair bet in himself.

Correct, as usual.

I don't know who read the posts, what you think, whether you bet on these selections etc etc. Please help support our website because trust me these things don't just appear without a lot of talent, time and enthusiasm. If the day that enthusiasm runs out then these posts with be no more. So help share, promote and do your best for us as we endeavour to do for you. With one thing and another, I'm feeling particularly fed up with life.

Gosden outlines novice plan for exciting Faydhan

FAYDHAN, who was made favourite for next year's Qipco 2,000 Guineas after scoring on his debut at Haydock last week, could have another run before stepping into Group company. The son of War Front, a $500,000 purchase at Keeneland last year, is around the 14-1 mark for the 2,000 Guineas after bolting up in a maiden at Haydock. Described as a "big baby" by rider Paul Hanagan, Faydhan is entered in the Group 2 Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Gimcrack Stakes at York on August 23, but another run at a lower level is likely to come first. John Gosden, who trains the juvenile for Hamdan Al Maktoum, said: "We were pleased with Faydhan but he was still green. "We'll give him another run in a novice race then look at the Gimcrack Stakes at York in August."

Night Of Thunder Set To Take On Kingman Again

Night of Thunder goes into the St James’s Palace Stakes next looking to build on his victory in the 2000 Guineas where he had two future Classic winners in behind him in the form of Kingman and Australia.

Richard Hannon’s colt has not been seen since his success at Newmarket where he was the surprise 40/1 winner with Betfair for the opening Classic of the year. Despite drifting to the left of the course in the closing stages of the Guineas, he was able to get up by half a length under jockey Kieren Fallon.

Australia boosted the form of Night of Thunder when he won the Derby at Epsom at the weekend to the delight of Betfair backers.

The John Gosden trained Kingman was the horse who finished directly behind Night of Thunder on that mile contest and will get his opportunity to put the record straight in their rematch in the St James’s Palace Stakes.

It did not take Gosden’s runner long to make up for his 2000 Guineas defeat as he won the Irish equivalent at the Curragh a few of weeks later. On that occasion he went off as a warm favourite with Betfair at 4/5 in the betting. The soft to heavy ground did not prove to be a problem for the British horse as he scored by five lengths.

Ryan Moore has been confirmed as the jockey who will board Toormore. He opened up with a victory in the Craven Stakes at Newmarket when bearing The Grey Gatsby in the Group Three contest.

Toormore also lined up in the 2000 Guineas where he was disappointing in seventh place. That was the first defeat of the colt’s career after going through his two-year old campaign unbeaten. He is currently third best in the market for next week’s race.

Kingman Sets Sights On Longchamp's Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere

Prince Khalid Abdullah's exciting two-year-old Kingman has his sights set on the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere, Longchamp, France, 6th October. This Group 1 race is open to both colts & fillies over 7f.

John Gosden [trainer] said: ''The Legardere is the next logical step,'' he told The Daily Telegraph.

This son of Invincible Spirit, out of a Group-one winning mare, made a sparkling debut at Newmarket, shooting clear in ''impressive'' fashion to win by six lengths. Next start saw a ''comfortable'' victory when beating a small field at Sandown taking the Solario Stakes (Group 3) when partnered for the first time by new retained jockey James Doyle.

Gosden continued: "I know that race and the Dewhurst are much closer these days, but it would still be a big gap if we waited for the Dewhurst. I was very satisfied with his run.''

Connections of Kingman - racing in the Frankel colours - look to favour Longchamp rather that entries such as the Champagne Stakes (Group 2) or Judmonte Royal Lodge Stakes (Group 2).

He also holds an entry for The Racing Post Trophy (Group 1).

He is presently priced around 4/1 for next year's 2000 Guineas.

The Fugue back to best with Stylish York Victory

John Gosden’s assertion that his smart filly, The Fugue, would bounce back from a rare below-par effort in the Coral Eclipse Stakes and be the one to beat in the Group 1 Darley Yorkshire Oaks proved spot on as William Buick’s mount went one better than the previous year in easily accounting for Venus De Milo by four lengths.

Clearly ideally suited by the flat, galloping circuit, The Fugue - who landed the Group 3 Musidora Stakes on the Knavesmire in May 2012 before going on to lose out narrowly to French star, Shareta, by just a neck in the Yorkshire Oaks 12 months ago - cruised up on the bridle to join the leaders at the two furlong from home marker.

Once Buick asked her to go about her business, the contest was immediately over and done with, the talented daughter of Dansili storming clear of Irish Oaks runner-up, Venus de Milo, and Epsom Oaks runner-up, Secret Gesture.

It was a very different scene to the end of the Coral Eclipse Stakes some seven weeks earlier when The Fugue finished distressed after running a lifeless race in the feature contest won by Al Kazeem. Lord Lloyd-Webber’s filly was subsequently found to be suffering from a nasty virus but has recovered well from that setback.

Gosden’s star has a number of options open to her for the rest of the term with a possible tilt at the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp in October certainly not ruled out, especially if the ground is decent at the showcase Paris track. The Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf in the US is the other likely target, a race for which The Fugue has now been installed a clear 2/1 ante-post favourite with betfair.

6:10 Newmarket (26th July) Free Horse Racing Tips

An EBF Median Auction Maiden Stakes over 6f on good ground. Eight two-year-olds take part: all colts bar one filly including two debutantes. An intriguing contest.

Tanzeel ran well on debut at Ascot, chasing home winner, Mappa Mundi, giving the impression there would be ample improvement to come. This well-bred son of Elusive City cost 100,000gns as a yearling and held in some regard with entries for the Gimcrack Stakes (Group 2) & Champagne Stakes (Group 2). The form of that initial start looks strong for this grade, which, by all accounts, is a drop in class. It will take a fair horse to beat Charlie Hill's charge. This is most likely a stepping stone to loftier targets.

Brian Meehan has not really hit the heights with his juveniles this season featuring rather patchy successes with a few dismal failures from well fancied horses thought to go well on their second start. This is usually the time to strike with this talented trainer. Headlong is a grey colt who fits this criteria. In fact, this son of Aussie Rules was the focus of my attention when racing at Kempton. In truth, he ran like a pig. I can't go into details but there was reason to believe - with some confidence - that this 60,000gns yearling purchase was going to run a big race.  There was much optimism to be gleaned from his debut effort at Newmarket. Horses which disappoint are never the best starting point for a bet but I would be surprised if this younger doesn't leave that last poor effort in the past. For the most part this looks a pretty moderate affair and if available at speculative or each way odds could go well. It would be encouraging if this May foal was supported in the market.

The only filly in the field, Penny Sixpence, was an expensive purchase when fetching 190,000euro as a yearling. This American bred daughter of Kheleyf out of a limited mare has a Cheveley Park Stakes (Group 1) which may be a sign of confidence. John Gosden [trainer] has a number of talented two-year-olds in his string and the stable can ready a debutante although she would need to be pretty smart to beat the boys and especially so at the first time of asking. The betting is key with this yard. Their debutantes go well when priced 11/4 and less. Considering the favourite is likely to be a hot favourite it would be telling if she was strongly fancied in the betting. If that is the case, I would take serious note of Lady Bamford's newcomer.

The others are best watched.

Conclusion: Tanzeel will take all the beating and sets the standard. He ran a great race on debut and with a couple of lofty entries it is pretty much guaranteed Hills' will be expecting a win. Headlong is an interesting horse but difficult to assess after his last race which must be considered a disappointment. The gamble is whether he can come back to form especially against a strong favourite. If touching speculative odds he could be a fair each way bet. I can't help but think if connections fancy their chances the money will follow. It would bring encouragement. An interesting horse. Penny Sixpence cost a lot of money and hails from a stable which can unveil a true talent. She would need to be smart to win this on debut and I would take a watching brief unless priced 11/4 & less sp. If featuring in that price guide it would signify a big run.

2:55 Wolverhampton (Monday, 17th December) Free Horse Racing Tips

FOOTBALL BET IN PLAY AT TOTEPOOL.COM MEDIAN AUCTION MAIDEN STAKES (CLASS 6) (2yo) Winner £1,704 6 runners 1m1f103y Standard ATR

A small field of six runners featuring four colts & two fillies with race experience bar one debutante.

Solace hasn't raced for over one hundred days but looks a major threat in this restricted event. John Gosden's charge races in the familiar green and white hooped silks of Miss K Rausing. This daughter of Canadian sire Langfuhr is a home bred out of Songerie who won impressively on debut and highly tried in her two-year-old career winning at Group 3 in France. At four, she raced at pattern class making the frame at the highest level. Solace ran well to finish fourth in a competitive Newmarket maiden on debut over 7f. On her next start at Goodwood, this chestnut filly was made joint favourite. A step up to a mile looked a positive move although she struggled to keep tabs on the leaders mid race and finishing 5th. That was a fair performance in the context of this race but perhaps slightly disappointing on the day.

12:20 Lingfield (Friday, 7th December) Free Horse Racing Tips

An EBF Maiden Fillies' Stakes over 1m. A field of eleven juveniles, four with experience, and a couple with form against a number of debutantes from leading stables. Fast Pace is owned by Prince Khalid Abdullah, racing in what have been emotively called the Frankel colours. This home bred daughter of Observatory is out of a multiple-winning mare who was very consistent. In fact, she was never placed worse than fourth in eight starts. Fast Pace ran at Kempton on debut over one mile when priced at huge odds. Amanda Perrett continues this noble relationship which was established by her father - Guy Harwood - in those halcyon days which bring
