She has gone up 3lb for her recent failure, which could make life a little harder. Mount Mcleod deserves to win a race and this will be as good a chance as any. A fair each way bet although it may be worth laying your stake at short odds in-running if past performances are anything to go by.
Bountiful Catch - trained by Pam Sly - was less than two lengths behind Mount Mcleod on their last run. This chestnut colt ran probably one of his better races on that occasion and weighted to go pretty close. Sly is a capable trainer who doesn't let chances slip through her fingers and this youngster is a fair looker. Although this son of Bahamian Bounty has run a number of times and shown patchy form, he seems to be progressing, which is a positive at this lowly grade.
Sonsie Lass and Mount Mcleod are weight to finish upsides. However, on this more testing surface I would favour the latter to hold an edge over Dalgleish's representative.
Recent course and distance winner, Make Up, won her first race in powerful style. However, that was a plating race and to all purposes it looked as though all but two horses turned up at the races in any form. In that sense it could make this daughter of Kyllachy flattered. On the positive side, Noel Wilson's runner finished her race well and at this grade that is often the difference between winning and losing. This ex-Hannon juvenile cost a fair sum when owned by Julie Wood although I would suspect that was a poor race and others may be better.
Conclusion: Low grade races are never straightforward. Mount Mcleod will have her followers and she is likely to make a bold bid, probably looking an easy winner, but does she have a problem going past horses? A fair each way selection but I would lay my stake at short odds in-running if that opportunity arises. Bountiful Catch seems to be progressing and with a fair weight advantage could get a little closer to Mount Mcleod. He has fair win and place claims. Sonsie Lass is another who may figure. I would be careful with Make Up, who may have been flattered last time.
HCE: ''A pretty straightforward win for Sonsie Lass who was always in command and even though drifting to the rail it didn't pose a problem. Mount Mcleod was always thereabouts but never looked likely to bridge the gap. Allegri hit the frame.''
