A small field for this 5f maiden.
Roger Charlton's first juvenile runner of the season showed promise when a fair second at Warwick on debut. Marlinka travelled well and held every chance only to be out battled in the final strides. The form of that race is a little hard to assess with the winner subsequently disappointing in a stakes race. However, Charlton's juveniles are likely to improve a good deal and this bay filly is the type to progress.
Just For Leo has been busy trying to gain his first win and showing ability. Evans' two-year-old has good speed but has been struggling to last the distance and seems prone to finding one or two too good.
Beckett trained his first two-year-old winner of the season yesterday and there will be plenty more to follow. Pabusar, a colt by Oasis Dream, went through the sales ring but wasn't sold for 62,000gns. A trainer who can ready a youngster for debut, he holds a fair place rate and certainly one to consider here.
Marlinka is open to improvement but the form is difficult to assess and this is very much a watching brief today.
