6:25 Newcastle

A fillies' maiden over 6f.

Three juveniles with form, the rest making their debut.

Silca Conegliano has been relatively fancied on all three starts and went close at Bath last time when pipped at the post by Jollywood. Channon's two-year-old showed good speed that day and was probably suited by the 6f. It is debatable what level that sets as it didn't look the strongest of races. The type to run a fair race but may find one too good.

One of the better lookers in this field will be Idiom. She is quite impressive for a filly and will dwarf many of these. After travelling well at Newmarket, she tired in the final furlong to finish 4th. There is little doubt improvement is needed to take this race and if needing the run that day a much better performance could be seen. Not the easiest of juveniles to asses - but clearly a nice physical specimen.

Lady platinum Club is an interesting filly for this. Oldroyd's youngster needed the experience on debut, running on well, and then didn't have much go right of her second start. They must think a bit of this daughter of Monsieur Bond to go for a Listed event at York. That day proved she is getting her act together and although a little slow away it was a much better run. Care is needed that she wasn't flattered to some extent. This 6f should suit and this is most likely to be the day when connections will be expecting a big run.

Many of those making their debuts do not seem overly fancied in the betting. Richard Fahey has been in fine form and Louis Girl could have place claims.
