A restricted auction maiden over 5f.
A poor-looking race where most have something to prove. Midnight Martini has run well and had a fighting chance on both starts. Easterby's filly by Night Shift is probably the most consistent of these and should run a big race.
Gower Sophia is very small and perhaps her last disappointment was a sign that she has had one race too many. I wouldn't dare back her today although if she returns to her best would have a very good chance of winning.
Both Emerald Girl and Raine Supreme need to improve on the debut runs. Neither really got into the race until it was finished and they may be run of their feet again. McMahon has very good statistics for his juveniles on their second start and if relatively short in the betting (13/2 & less) then a big run may be on the card. Both need to find more today.
Being a cheapish bunch, the debutantes are less likely to have natural ability and why the form horses are of most interest here. Midnight Martini sets the level and connection will be hoping for a big run. She has an element of ability but probably average.
A watching race.
Race review: 'A poor race and little ability on display here. Midnight Martini had this race won a long way from home, a deserve victory after a couple of fair efforts. Beyond the second, Emerald Girl who may have a chance in a poor race, many of the others are continuing to disappoint. Gower Sophia has regressed and should be avoided.'
