7:20 Kempton (24th June)

An interesting fillies' maiden over this turning 6f.

Not the easiest race to appreciate although a couple of nice-looking horses.

Athwaab ran well from a low draw at Lingfield in a race that was decent for an auction event. Rio Mist was behind that day and on that viewing you would think she would struggle do reverse the form. Hannon's filly (Rio Mist) was given an easy introduction in ways and this step up to 6f may bring about improvement as some of their juveniles have sprouted wings from one start to the next. On the balance of things I would think Athwaab has her beating though.

Angel Of Fashion is a capable juvenile with experience, which helps around here. Each run has shown promise but also vulnerability in always meeting one a little better. The Leicester race was quite competitive and she was run off her feet before staying on at the finish. She will be better suited by this 6f but is likely to find one too good. A good, consistent sort, at least you know what you get with her.

Pastel Blue and Raddy 'Ell Pauline are interesting two-year-olds not so much in what they have achieved on course but how they look - both are attractive fillies. Pastel Blue ran in a fair maiden and showed ability before tiring in the final furlong or so. I got the feeling they were there more for the experience and it wouldn't surprise me to see this filly improve significantly today. Raddy 'Ell Pauline is a strong filly and didn't have much luck in running at Doncaster, but was beaten a decent way at the finish. Quite well fancied in the betting, she could be capable of better although she needs to be to take this.

An intriguing race where Athwaab and Angel Of Fashion set the form while Hannon's Rio Mist has the chance to improve with the good lookers, Pastel Blue and Raddy 'Ell Pauline, thrown into the mix.

A watching race.

Race review: 'This may turn out to be a decent race. The good, strong Raddy 'Ell Pauline had a transformation and ran on well to win by just over one length. Piccadilly Filly ran a stormer and for much of the way looked to have the edge on her opposition. The Morrison-trained Hot Pursuits ran a much improved performance ahead of the attractive Millifera in fourth. The first and second favourite were well beaten and it is either the case they disappointed or this was a strong maiden. The jury is out at the moment but it could well be a race full of winners.'
