4:25 Newmarket (3rd May)

Newmarket maidens are always worth noting and one with winning prize money of nearly £10,000 especially so. The only form horse, Tom Folan, will probably be a non-runner but will struggle to cope in this class. This doesn't look the easiest of races to assess with a host of leading trainers taking part. Both Footstepsofspring and High Spice have been given stakes race entries. With Izaaj representing Saeed Bin Suroor and Radiohead for Brian Meehan, this could be a very competitve race. Intriguing.

A watching race.

Tom Folan (NR)

Race review: An impressive performance by Cowell's High Spice who will surely be earmarked for Royal Ascot (later confirmed as potential Queen Mary runner). An expensive purchase, this attractive filly by Songandaprayer (USA) has a fluent running action and the scope to go on from here. Cowell is capable of winning on debut and this juvenile certainly wasn't lacking in fitness or experience - an exciting prospect. Radiohead ran a very good race considering he was some way behind the field after being steadied by Spencer after the start. His inexperience cost him dear and he ran a magnificent race, joining the leader, before losing out in the final half furlong. A winner waiting to happen. Izaaj and Ejaab ran creditable raced in third and fourth respectively.'
