1:55 Thirsk (2nd May)

A novice stakes event seeing the return of the progressive Here Now And Why. Make no mistake this is a talented two-year-old as proven with his effort against Archers Road on debut and then an easy win at Ripon last time. Having first thought he seemed a touch temperamental that day, he did very little wrong in the race and has a lot of natural speed and runs to the line.

In truth this looks a two or three horse race at best. Falasteen is a very interesting contender. Already holding an entry for the Lily Agnes, at Chester, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see this £40,000 gelding by Titus Livius showing ability. However, he will need to be a very talented horse to beat Here Now And Why on debut.

A watching race.

Race review: 'An effortless less win for Here Now And Why. It was disappointing to see Falasteen withdrawn late on but it would have been a big surprise if he had managed to get close to this two-year-old. Clearly Ryan will be looking towards Royal Ascot.'
