2:00 Leicester (1st June)

An interesting maiden for colts and fillies over this extended 5f.

Jira is an expensive filly and ran quite encouragingly on debut and will appreciate this step up to nearly 6f. Clive Brittain has had an amazing season with his juveniles and being on the crest of a wave, and Seb Sanders in the plate, you would be a brave person to say he couldn't win.

Warning Song flew home at Salisbury and could be a revelation at this distance (5f218y). Perrett has a good win rate at relatively short odd on second start and could improve a good deal. That was a fair effort on debut and this colt must be given a big shout.

Party Doctor comes from top two-year-old trainer, Tom Dascombe. Not a particularly expensive juvenile the market will be the best guide to his chances.

Of the rest, Capacity and Rock A Doodle Doo have been entered for stakes races, which is an encouraging sign.

At speculative odds First Cat may be a decent bet to lay as this colt was well backed on debut before getting loose and being withdrawn. These betting patterns have the knack of materialising once more and a on the exchanges a no-lose bet may be possible. (Always to be treated with caution, but I get the feeling it will be backed.)

An open race with a couple of interesting for horse and the stakes-entered pair are worth noting.
A watching race.

Race review: 'Jira took a drift in the market ran won from the fast finishing Party Doctor by a head. Brittain's juvenile continue to impress and this filly always travelled well just off the pace and looked to be an easy winner until Dascombe's second ran on well and was making great strides at the line. A strong colt, he will progress and a win looks a formality. Warning Song travelled well but didn't really finish to any effect. You have to consider that Perrett's juvenile was beaten by two better horses.'
