5:05 Yarmouth Racing Tips (11th Aug) TOTEPLACEPOT SIX PLACES IN SIX RACES EBF MAIDEN STAKES (Plus 10 Race) (CLASS 4) (2yo)

An EBF Maiden stakes (Plus 10) over 7f 3y on good to firm going.

Not bad prize money for this contest. A few of these come with big reputations. Charlie Appleby has a number of talented two-year-olds in this year's string and Salsabeel is high in the pecking order if my information is correct. This bay colt is a son of Exceed And Excel and homebred for Darley racing in the royal blue silks. As with all juveniles making their debut, it can be a difficult test. However, this February foal is held in high regard and expected to go well.

Jeremy Noseda has been quiet with his two-year-olds this season but he is a class trainer and capable of sending out a debut winner although they often fare better second start. Intrepidly is an American-bred son of Medaglia d' Oro racing in the familiar silks of The Honourable Earl Mack & T Hind Racing. This $200,000 yearling comes from a good family with expensive siblings. This is the only horse Noseda has sent to the course and only ride for Jamie Spencer. Those factors alone give the impression they mean business and add to the interest of this maiden.

Novoman represents William Haggas. This chestnut son of Sir Prancealot was relatively fancied on debut at Epsom when placed third. A slow start didn't help but it is worth noting that was at auction class which means this is in race type a step up in class. This 90,000G yearling purchase will need to do better today but has valuable race experience.

James Tate is a superb trainer and he can go very well with juveniles making their racecourse bow. In addition, I consider this Newmarket trainer sends his better horses to race at this venue. Law And Order is a bay colt sired by Lawman racing in the familiar silks of Saeed Manana. At 40,000G this juvenile is a relatively cheap purchase.

Conclusion: An intriguing race. Law And Order may have claims but I would be looking at just two colts here: Salsabeel & Intrepidly. The former, trained by Charlie Appleby, is held in high regard and for me the horse to beat. Whether 2/1 or so is value is another thing. Time may tell it is a fantastic price. Intrepidly is an expensive purchase and it catches the eye that it is the only horse sent to the course by Noseda and solitary ride for Spencer. I very much doubt they will be coming here just for the seaside air. It could well be a match between the two talking horses. I would favour Salsabeel.

2:00 Yarmouth Racing Tips (17th Sept) BRITISH STALLION STUDS EBF MAIDEN STAKES (CLASS 5) (2yo)

An EBF Maiden Stakes over 6f 3y on good to firm going. Very difficult to make an assessment of this race as detailing at the 48 hour declaration stage and 34 entries at this time. Looks a sizable maiden with a good number of jockeys booked to ride. Just a quick word about one of the few fillies declared to run. Marsha, trained by Sir Mark Prescott. This daughter of Acclamation is owned by the Elite Racing Club. This home bred was fancied in the betting when making her debut at Kempton but drifted just before the off to return 9/1. That betting was significant and she ran a superb race behind the well touted Zhui Feng. If Marsha is priced 13/2 & less SP I would be betting each way. If fancied in the betting this bay filly has sound each way claims.

Note: This race may be split into two division.

1:55 Yarmouth Racing Tips (16th Sept) BRITISH STALLION STUDS/GREENE KING EBF MAIDEN STAKES (CLASS 5) (2yo)

An EBF Maiden Stakes over 7f 3y on good to firm going. Ten two-year-olds declared to run [written Monday morning so please forgive any non runners] colts, one gelding and solitary filly. Massaat is held in high regard by Barry Hills and after a sterling effort on debut, when a narrow loser to John Gosden's talent Cymric, must take all the beating. This Irish bred son of Teofilo is out of a decent 90-rated mare who contested Listed class for Charlie Hills. Massaat was very well backed on debut at Sandown and beaten by a head, which was all the more meritorious after a slow start. A string of flashy Group entries include the the Royal Lodge Stakes (Group 2) and Dewhurst Stakes (Group 2). He was also entered to run in the Champagne Stakes (Group 2) but didn't take that option. Hamdan Al Maktoum's charge has recently been entered for a Stakes and Listed contest, which details a win at maiden class is expected before moving on to a higher level. It will interesting to see what odds are available on the day but if this colt is anywhere near an each way price I would take an interest.

2:20 Yarmouth Racing Tips (15th Sept) BRITISH STALLION STUDS EBF MAIDEN FILLIES´ STAKES (Plus 10 Race) (CLASS 5) (2yo)

An EBF Maiden Stakes over 6f 3y on good to firm going. Ten fillies take part: five with race experience the rest making their debut. A few interesting juveniles to note in a fairly competitive heat.

Fourth Way, trained by Roger Varian, wasn't fancied on debut over course and distance but really found her stride in the final furlong to give favourite backers a slight scare when finishing second to Alqubbah, who had shown a decent level of form for Ed Dunlop.

This bay filly, a daughter of Iffraaj, cost £78,000 at the yearling sales, purchased by David Redvers. She now runs in the silks of Qatar Racing Ltd. The mare, Spiritual Air, won over this trip but appreciated further in time.

There was a lot to like about Fourth Way on debut and she should improve for that initial start. She may be a touch outpaced mid race but should rattle home with spirit. For in-running punters, you may get better odds in play.

The horse to beat.

Field Of Stars is trained by William Haggas and takes this maiden in favour of yesterday's Wolverhampton declaration to run with her stablemate Symposium. Connections chose to withdrawn her to take this engagement.

This home bred daughter of Acclamation is out of a winning mare and races in the familiar silks of Lael Stable, no stranger to talented thoroughbreds.

This January foal was a well-backed favourite on debut at Nottingham over 5f on good to soft going. She was slightly checked when leaving the stalls, crossed by an opponent, which left her with a stiff task.

Physically a good-looking type, compact with strength. I was left with the impression nothing  went right that day. She plugged on in the closing stages without ever being competitive. This extra furlong should see a marked improvement and return a wiser horse today. Although lacking in flashy Group entries it is a positive she was so strongly fancied on debut. From a statistical point of view, this bay filly holds good win and place claims. If available at each way prices - fair bet. If a particularly weak in the betting and priced outside 13/2 SP I would take a watching brief. [With favourite being such a short price I would stretch this betting to an SP of 8/1].

Two other form horses are worthy of interest.

Henry Candy has been in great form this season and true professional with his two-year-olds.

Rosie Royce is a home bred daughter of Acclamation out of a talented Italian mare who won at Listed class and placed at Group level.

She has raced over the minimum trip on both starts to date and been relatively fancied in the betting.

This bay filly had no luck on debut, stuck behind a wall of horses, and allowed to coast home in her own time.

She was quite weak in the betting when making her return at Chepstow.

From a statistical point of view she held strong win and place claims that day, when finishing third in a seven-runner race. In some respects that seemed a slightly disappointing effort although it is worth noting that the first two fillies, Little Voice and Sirajiah, are both held in high regard by their respective trainers. Both of those horses had proven a touch disappointing so it could be the case they ran to their best that day.

Rosie Royce was reported to be keen but on reviewing the video she looked beaten fair and square. Whether this step up in distance will bring about improvement is a matter for debate. She wouldn't want to pull today when the major fancies will be finishing with verve. Time may tell that was a decent performance at Chepstow although it is difficult to make an objective assessment in ways.

Little Voice wasn't disgraced when stepped up to Listed class on her next start and Sirajiah is held in some regard by connections. Rosie Royce could be one for each way backer at respectable odds.

Gay Kelleway does well at this seaside course. Sakhee's Gem is the most experienced in this field with five runs and far from disgraced: only out of the first four on one occasion and then not beaten far in a Listed race at York. This daughter of Sakhee's Secret finished fourth in a competitive maiden at Newmarket when stepping up to 6f.

With a number of promising efforts she has the profile of a horse with enough ability to win an average maiden but liable to be beaten by a juvenile with a touch of class. An official rating of just 70 suggests one or two will be too good unless the race falls apart. In addition, there is concern a horse may regress after a number of tough races.

Lady Lloyd wasn't fancied for William Jarvis on debut at Windsor and showed limited ability after dwelling at the start. The trainer does well at this course but unless seriously backed [15/2 & less SP] I would take a watching brief.

Of the debutantes, Daring Day was quite an expensive yearling buy at 60,000GNS. George Peckham is a rookie trainer so difficult to assess his general standard to date with few two-year-old runners. Owner Fawzi Abdullah Nass is no stranger to talented horses and although I would take a watching brief, this debutantes should be respected later in the season.

George Margarson has been quiet with his juveniles this season and Tifawt has the blinkers applied for her debut. Best watched.

James Toller has very few two-year-olds but the stable is worth noting when bringing a youngster to Yarmouth. Sole Bay Star is a daughter of Dutch Art costing just £15,000 at the Breeze-up sales. The betting is the best guide here. If unfancied best watched but if starting 14/1 & less SP could have ability.

The betting is key for Rae Guest's two fillies. Khismet is an American bred daughter of Kheleyf, a bargain buy at foal for just 3,500GNS. This filly was sent to the Breeze-up sales but withdrawn and staying with connections.

Mayberain is a home bred daughter of Acclamation although interestingly sent through the sales for 72,000EUR.

I'm a big fan of Rae Guest and if either of these debutantes were priced 10/1 & less SP it could be significant.

Conclusion: At intriguing race. Fourth Way sets the standard on form and looks the type to improve a good deal for that debut over course and distance. The winner of that race is a decent juvenile and Varian's charge could well be better. It will be interesting to see if she is slightly flat footed mid race but a horse I would expect to fly at the finish and take some beating. Not than much value priced 1/2 favourite but the horse to beat.

Field Of Stars needs to improve for her debut but it seems likely to do just that. This step up in distance will help and that first start should brush the cobwebs away. If available at each way odds would make a fair each way selection with stats to suggest a good win and place strike rate.

Rosie Royce has been priced to go well on both starts. Little could be gleaned from debut and finishing third to two highly touted juveniles may not be too bad at all. There is a chance she didn't run her race last start and if improving would be a serious contender. I can't quite get to grips with this horse but respect the stable.

Sakhee's Gem has ability but will most likely be held by a couple.

The betting is key of the rest. If Sole Bay Star was backed to 14/1 or less she could have each way claims.

Khimet & Mayberain would be very interesting if priced 10/1 & less. That would suggest decent win and place claims.

Fourth Way gets the nod although the price seems very short. Field Of Stars could make a viable each way bet. Keep an eye on the betting for the rest of the field, especially debutantes . The favourite looks hard to beat but Field Of Stars and Rosie Royce could be fair each way bets at decent odds.

2:10 Yarmouth Racing Tips (30th Aug) BET TOTEJACKPOT BRITISH STALLION STUDS EBF MAIDEN FILLIES´ STAKES (Plus 10 Race) (CLASS 5) (2yo)

Good to see Great Yarmouth back with its racing after the mile straight has been leveled and re-turfed. Let's hope this encourages the high-profile trainers who complained about the surface. Personally, I find it strange ARC found £300,000 to do this work when other courses such as Ripon are much worse. It makes me wonder what they have in mind for this seaside course.

I half intended to go today but with our annual pilgrimage only a couple of weeks away it would be something of an anti climax. Makes me smile to see they start proceedings with a decent two-year-old contest.

Alqubbah is a decent juvenile for Ed Dunlop, one of the better two-year-olds in his stable. This Irish-bred daughter or Arcano was fancied on debut at Newmarket over 6f on good to firm going. She was backed to 7/2 second favourite but seemingly disappointed when trailing behind Mark Johnston's Lumiere, who is a class act. The form of that race has been franked with Sharja Queen and particularly Shadow Hunter, who ran creditably at Listed class when contesting the St Hughes Stakes at Newbury, then triumphant at a similar grade in the Julia Graves Stakes at York. Those initial thoughts that something may have been amiss that day are mostly unfounded. I had my eye on this bay second start and intended to have a decent bet. However, the fact that Hamdan Al Maktoum had Jadaayil priced favourite in the first colours slightly skewed the betting for the lesser fancied in the market. Both juveniles were there on merit and Alqubbah would have gone close if not for being short of room in the closing stages. That was another fine effort and it will take a smart performance to beat Hanagan's mount on the Norfolk coast. Short odds but a worthy favourite.

As always, there are very few easy races these days and two or three opponents are notable.

Aberlady has done nothing wrong in both her starts to date for K Abdullah, trained by Sir Michael Stoute. This home bred daughter of Arch out of the class mare Visit, who won at Group class and was placed multiple times at Group 1, suffered narrow defeats at Newmarket and Kempton, respectively. She was quite well backed on debut when staying on to finish third behind Palenville, who disappointed in the Albany Stakes Group 3 at Royal Ascot. Aberlady was made a 1/2f at Kempton in July but couldn't withstand the late charge of Justice Angel. That filly ran well but defeated next start with an official rating of 77. Connections will be hoping an absence of over fifty days will bring about further improvement. Based on that effort, this bay/brown filly will need to find a couple of lengths to scare the favourite. There is a possibility she was not on song last start or better suited to turf. If available at each way prices there may be a little meat on the bone or a bet to nothing if hitting the frame. I would go with the favourite.

Very interested to see David Lanigan sending Thrilled to make her debut at Yarmouth. He is a difficult trainer to judge and, in general, his debutantes are very hit and miss. They can win when priced at 10/1 & less and a few have won at huge odds. In the good old days at this seaside course he was known to send his better two-year-olds and that aspects in itself gives some confidence. This daughter of Kodiac is out of a multiple-winning mare, who was Listed placed and campaigned at that level although never prevailed. This filly was purchased at the sales by Flaxman Stables Ireland Ltd for 460,000GNS and still in their ownership. They race Duntle, trained by David Watchman, who won at Group 1, an exceptional talented and consistent mare. I know Thrilled has ability and held in high regard by the stable. As with so many debutantes I wouldn't want to jump in at short odds and the bookmakers have this bay filly priced at 4/1. That seems a very skinny price. It may reflect the high regard she is held but it does temper my enthusiasm. Lanigan's debutante record doesn't fill me with confidence and over six furlongs, against decent, fit and ready juveniles, being tardy from the stalls would make this hard work unless a true talent. I have some conflict about this horse with pros and cons. I would take a watching brief but it wouldn't be a surprise to see a sparkling performance.

Roger Varian had a smart winner in Taneen at Newmarket on Saturday, a horse with a string of flashy Group entries. Fourth Way is a daughter of Iffraaj out of a a winning mare who was trained by John Weymes. She was a fair sort who raced at Listed class. This May foal doesn't have any smart entries which may bring slight concerns. The betting is the best guide and if priced 13/2 & less has respectable win and place claims. If weak in the betting I'd take a watching brief.

The last of the interesting juveniles contesting this race for me is Rose Marmara. This home bred daughter of Exceed And Excel is owned by Jaber Abdullah. Richard Fahey is a fine trainer of debutantes. The mare was a sprinter for Mick Channon and won at Listed class and ran at Group level. Has fair win and place claims if fancied in the betting although I'd take a watching brief.

The others are best watched.

Conclusion: A great start for Yarmouth - back on course. I'm excited about this race if not from a betting perspective just to see how a few of these go. Alqubbah sets the standard and will take the beating. She is a talented juvenile who has proven ability and will be fit and primed to run well. The odds are cramped but she is the horse to beat. Aberlady has each way claims although I would take a watching brief. The betting is the best indicator for Fourth Way and Rose Marmara. They would need to be 13/2 & less to register with me. The latter could win outside this betting guide but if both are weak in the betting I'd watch and learn. Thrilled is interesting and I can't wait to see how she fares. Lanigan doesn't strike me as a trainer to win on debut although he can, especially with a talented horse. It is encouraging that he likes to send his better two-year-olds to Yarmouth. That does give more hope than not. A huge price tag and lovely breeding are pointers. This filly is held in high regard at home but can she win on debut? On balance, I would have to take a watching brief at the odds. The favourite is the horse to beat.

2:30 Yarmouth (16th September) Imtiyaaz Has Class To Shine On Debut

An EBF Maiden Fillies' Stakes over 6f 3y on good-to-form going. Twelve two-year-olds take part: seven raced, including a handful of debutantes from leading yards.

Roger Varian has been in flying form with Kingston Hill's St Leger victory, then Cursory Glance taking the Moyglare Stakes (Group 1) in Ireland. Kremlin House Stables can do little wrong. Imtiyaaz is a daughter of Starspangledbanner, out of a twice-race mare who showed little when in training with Godolphin. This February foal, bred by Lynn Lodge Stud, cost 62,000gns, when purchase as a yearling by Hugo Merry Bloodstock at Tattersalls October Sale 2013 (Book 2). Varian has a fair strike rate with his debutantes and it is intriguing to note that this filly holds a couple of lofty engagements for the Shadwell Rockfel Stakes (Group 2) and Cheveley Park Stakes (Group 1). She is one of only twenty entries for this Newmarket race, and the trainer's other representative is the might Cursory Glance. These pointers suggest this filly has her share of ability and although much to prove with regarding those Group-class ambitions, connections must be keen to see what this grand daughter of Green Desert can achieve. A fair each way selection if prices allow.

2:10 Yarmouth Racing Tip (9th July) LADIES NIGHT AT GREAT YARMOUTH RACECOURSE MAIDEN AUCTION STAKES

A Maiden Auction Stakes over 5f 43y on good to firm ground. Just the four runners but an interesting duel between the two likely favourites.

Somedaysrdiamonds has raced twice and looks to have a tough task even in this restricted race type.

Martyn Meade has popped up in the training ranks a number of times over the years and this season made his mark with class two-year-old Bazzana, who wasn't disgrace when down the field in the Albany Stakes (Group 3) at Royal Ascot. Loumarin may have been sent off at the odds of 66/1 when making her debut at Newbury but bellied that price when leading until the last 100m to finish fourth, beaten less than three lengths. This 7,000euro yearling is dropped down to the minimum trip today. The form of that first race looks fair for the grade. There is a chance this drop back in distance will blunt his speed but with such a small field it could well be a tactical affair and he should run to the line.

Rockaroundtheclock disappointed on debut at Goodwood over 5f when quite fancied in the betting. Make no mistake this chestnut colt is held in some regard by Paul Cole [pictured]. This son of Starspangledbanner was expected to go well on his debut but a wide draw see him run into daylight and in a matter of strides all chance had gone. This February foal was bought at a snip of a price when Cole purchased him at the breeze-up sales for 20,000gns. Considering he was sold for 24,000euros as a foal and £46,000 as a yearling, his original owners didn't have a particularly good day at the sales. Connections will not get a better chance to notch a second-start win and it is encouraging that Cole has kept an interest in this horse with Chris Wright. I would expect a bold show from this horse today.

The debutante of the field is Spring Loaded, who hails from Paul D'Arcy. This son of first season sire Zebedee was purchased at the yearling sales by the trainer for £20,000. In general, the stable do not send out many two-year-old winners on their racing bow although they have exceptions as seen with Racing Mate [14/1 winner, August, 2013]. The stable have a small sample at this course but a good strike rate with their juveniles and Ryan Moore is a very unusual jockey booking. May make more appeal if substantially backed.

Summary: A small but intriguing race. I can imagine two or three trainers came here expecting an easy race. Loumarin has the best form on offer and this drop down in distance should guarantee she doesn't tired at the finish as seen on debut. She sets a fair target for Rockaroundtheclock to aim. Paul Cole's charge is held in some regard by the stable who expected much better on debut. His trainer has been quoted on a few occasions detailing this youngster will be seen in a much better light on his second start. As with all horses whatever the reputation they still have to prove it on course. It is possible that this horse will be fair odds early on the exchanges and if that is true readers should fill their boots. In my opinion this colt will take all the beating today but betting is dependent on price. Until the market settles it is difficult to say. Sporting Life have a tissue price of 6/1 which pie in the sky. The horse to beat. Spring Loaded is interesting but best watched. Somedaysrdiamonds has valuable experience but looks outclassed.

2:30 Yarmouth Racing Tip (11th June) GUIDE DOGS FOR THE BLIND MAIDEN STAKES (CLASS 5) (2yo)

A Maiden Stakes over 5f 43y on good to firm ground. Nine two-year-olds: six colts, three fillies, bar two debutantes, all lightly raced. By all accounts this looks a competitive heat and the winner will be a fair juvenile.

Burning The Clocks was fancied on debut at Leicester and showed distinct promise. This Irish son of Tagula, looks a great yearling purchase at £35,000. I was intrigued to see this February foal had been given a Stakes race entry before his first start, which is often a sign of encouragement. There was little between the first three that day. There was confidence from all connections and time may tell that was a strong race. Rae Guest's winner, Jane's Memory, ran a superb race at Chantilly, France, when a narrow loser at Listed class next time out. Peter Chapple-Hyam is one of few trainers to excel with his debutantes so it may be unwise to expect significant improvement. However, the form of that initial start must give decent claims in this contest. I would fancy this horse to go well if available at each way prices but that is very unlikely.

Other horses who could prove a handful are Black Granite and Barchan. Both are difficult to assess but it would be no surprise to see them show ability.

Black Granite cost 105,000euros as a yearling and ran in a hot Stakes race on debut at Newmarket over 6f. This bay colt was a big price that day - not surprising against such opposition - and looked like a horse who was sent to have a preparation race. A slow start put pay to any hope but he ran on at the finish and is capable of better. If priced 13/2 & less must have sound each way claims.

Barchan has been beaten favourite on both starts, which indicated this $475,000 yearling is capable of better. This son of War Front is a handsome colt with size and scope. He will make many of these look like ugly ducklings. He seems to lose ground when going into the dip at Newmarket over 5f and then travelled well at Brighton over 6f but simply faded in the final furlong. He either went a stride too fast or struggled to get the distance. I can't quite imagine this bay colt couldn't get six furlongs but connections have dropped back to the minimum trip. Whether he will struggle to go the pace only time will tell. A difficult horse to assess and for that reason I would take a watching brief.

Conclusion: Potentially a tough race. I think Burning The Clocks will go well but with a few horses likely to improve I wouldn't be bullish enough to bet unless each way prices are available. That is very unlikely to happen. A watching brief.

1:50 Yarmouth (22nd October) Free Horse Racing Tips

An EBF Maiden Stakes over 6f 3y on soft ground with heavy places. Nine two-year-olds take part: four raced with a mix of debutantes from predominantly fashionable stables. The betting could well tell the story for most of these. Kaab makes a belated return to the course after disappointing when strongly fancied in the betting at Leicester in May. This son of Kheleyf out of a twice-winning mare was a 42,000gns yearling purchase for Hamdan Al Maktoum. Ed Dunlop is a gifted trainer and this bay colt must have been showing ample ability before his first start. A wide draw wasn't the best of stalls but you have to consider this youngster suffered an injury or setback to finish down the field. The betting is particularly important for this horse and if weak in the market it would be a negative. However, if backed to a starting price of 13/2 & less I would be expecting a big run and strong win and place claims.

2:30 Yarmouth (8th August) Free Horse Racing Tips

An EBF Maiden Stakes over 6f 3y on good to firm ground. A fascinating race for these eight runners. Strategical and Bush Beauty both run well on debut and the later holds a number of Group entries which suggests Clive Brittain will have his filly competing at pattern class sooner than not. In many ways this looks a three-horse race and Blurred Vision may be a fair each way selection at respectable odds. William Jarvis has a liking for this seaside course and this son of Royal Applause has been made to look a shadow of his true ability. This bay colt was fancied to go well on debut but inexperience over an insufficient trip afforded a poor result. However, that betting guide was significant and so were connection's wishes to go to Goodwood next start. Although speculative odds, he ran a sterling race and was eased markedly in the closing half furlong when a winning chance had gone. Even that form line gives reasoned claims for a success in the near future and there could be more to come. A couple of the outsiders have little chance in today's field and the debutantes will need to be pretty smart to figure. The favourites set a fair challenge but it could be the case Blurred Vision has Captain Midnight to beat for a place and I am confident Jarvis' youngster will beat this juvenile. William Buik's mount looks to hold every chance of hitting the frame and a fighting chance of a win. I would be banking on the place and hope for more. With only eight juveniles competing it would be a problem if there were additional non runners, so it may be wise to bet late to guarantee there isn't two places rather than three. Blurred Vision looks a fair each way bet at speculative odds and no forlorn hope of proving victorious.

2:10 Yarmouth (4th July) Free Horse Racing Tips

An EBF Maiden Stakes over 6f 3y on good to firm ground.  Nine two-year-olds take part - all colts bar a solitary filly - the majority lightly raced. By all accounts a few talented juveniles are searching for their first win.

An enthralling race.

Noel Quinlan knows a decent horse and connections must have been pretty certain Speedfiend had his share of ability when well backed on debut at Newmarket. That 6f event not only saw a sizeable field but a strong contest where the form has been franked. This son of Bahamian Bounty is out of a winning mare who competed up to Listed class. A 40,000gns yearling purchase, he wasn't best away from the stalls on debut and then found trouble in running, which had him playing catch up. To finish seventh, beaten five lengths by the likes of Jallota, was a creditable performance and there could well be improvement to come. The form of that racecourse bow must give him claims today. This youngster has a fighting chance but I wonder if there is much value if starting at relatively short odds with perhaps one or two of the form horses fair each way value.

Major Crispies is a big son of Pastoral Pursuits - a brute of a horse. James Eustace's colt has an action which suggests he would appreciate better ground. He ran a tremendous first start over 6f at Leicester on good ground. That was a tough race and the first two will be competing at Group level before long. The form of that race has been franked although this youngster was given a pretty hard race to snatch third place on the line. This April foal showed a similarly determined attitude at Salisbury where a wide draw made his life difficult. However, he was pushed into contention and would have gone close if not for being hampered in the closing stages by an errant favourite. Major Crispies, himself, ran far from a straight line and his wandering may have been due to the faster ground conditions. He looks the type to take some time to get into full stride but does run to the line. On form this 26,000gns yearling buy looks very similar to Marco Botti's Meaning Of Life, through a line with Lanark. That form is sound and of a winning level to take an average maiden.

Meaning Of Life is a good-looking colt, sired by Exceed And Excel. He looked to need the run on debut when racing over the minimum trip against a couple of talented juveniles. This bay colt was keen when stepping up to 6f at Kempton, settling when gaining cover, although showing signs of inexperience on the turn. The leaders held a length or two advantage but I was left with the impression he had more to give. Probably the most enticing aspect about this youngster is that Botti's two-year-olds improve in a progressive manner and most run their best race third start. He has a fine record at this course and although this is a stiff test he could have each way claims and a fighting chance of the win.

The other form horses Mappa Mundi is likely to improve for this step up in distance but needs to show more. If substantially backed it would give greater hope although I would take a watching brief.

Barbary didn't achieve a great deal on debut but James Fanshawe's two-year-olds can improve markedly on their second start. The betting is key. If backed to 13/2 & less has strong each way claims.

Bahamian Heights is held in some regard by Clive Brittain. They considered sending this colt to Royal Ascot for the Coventry Stakes (Group 2). He showed more promise when stepped up to 7f. A difficult horse to assess over this shorter trip although he didn't have the best passage when racing over this distance at Haydock. Best to take a watching brief although Brittain is a trainer who never says no.

Of the debutantes, Island Redeme is the only filly in the field. Ed Dunlop's two-year-olds can win if fancied on their racecourse bow but if weak in the betting best watched.

Mathematics hails from a stable which can unveil a class juvenile and should be respected. Considering about half of all their two-year-old debutantes are priced 13/2 & less the betting doesn't give too much away. This son of Exceed And Excel will need to be pretty smart to beat the form horses and I would take a watching brief.

Conclusion: A stiff race where Major Crispies, Speedfiend & Meaning Of Life could well battle to the line. Each has shown ability. Major Crispies has been raced pretty hard on both starts to date but looks a tough customer. This fast ground might not be ideal and he wouldn't want to be wandering under pressure. Eustace has a good record at this course and this colt is likely to put in a bold show. Meaning Of Life has a similar level of form but could be better value if touching fair each way prices. Botti seems to have the knack of priming his juveniles to win on their third start and this is one of the reasons why this colt appeals. Speedfiend is held in some regard by the Quinlan stable and deserves respect. All three horses have each way claims but such a competitive heat would mean short odds wouldn't tempt. The betting is the best guide to the others and particularly important for Barbary. If priced 13/2 & less I would expect a big run. A tricky race to be dogmatic about as there could be four or five with a live chance. If the price allow I would have a small each way bet on Meaning Of Life.

2:20 Yarmouth (7th May) Free Horse Racing Tips

An EBF Maiden Stakes over 5f 43y on good to firm ground. Just the four runners, one colt against three fillies, two with form. Not the easiest race to assess although I will highlight one horse, which is unlikely to win at the first time of asking. My Little Friend is trained by Mark Tompkins and home bred for the The Sakal Family. This chestnut son of Pastoral Pursuit is the only colt in the field which should be an advantage against the girls. In fact, Tompkins does well at this seaside course. However, his two-year-olds have a poor strike rate on debut and most improve a good deal for the experience. I would take a watching brief.

Free Horse Racing Tips

Autumns Blush was the first juvenile to run for Jeremy Noseda this season. This daughter of Kheleyf was introduced at Newmarket and the form of that event has been franked with the sixth, seventh and twelfth winning since and others going well with place efforts. This bay filly ran a fair race without ever threatening the leaders. Noseda has an impressive strike rate with his fancied juveniles on their second start and this looks the horse to beat.

Alan Bailey is a canny trainer. Mimi Luke ran in the same race as Autumns Blush on debut but held little chance after a slow start. This American bred filly didn't seem to go through the sales ring which strikes me as unusual. She was a huge price next start at Windsor and seemingly ran a storming race when finishing third behind hot shot Steventon Star (1/10f). The winner cruised past the opposition and bound for Royal Ascot. The second horse, Culdaff, is a good-looking colt but needed the race. The rest of the field look pretty poor and that makes assessing the form difficult. In fairness to Mimi Luke, she is an athletic type who showed good pace, a willing, determined juvenile.

Clive Brittain is one of my favourite trainers and Yarmouth has always held a place in his heart. He has introduced a number of talented two-year-olds here over the years. Bush Beauty is by first-season sire Bushranger out of a poor mare. This February foal cost 30,000gns at the sales. In general, Brittain's debutantes have a poor strike rate unless fancied in the betting. The problem here is that with such a small field the betting is unlikely to give conclusive evidence either way. If priced over 13/2 I would consider today is not the day.

Conclusion: A small field is never the easiest starting point but the betting is likely to decide whether this is basically a two-horse race. I wouldn't expect My Little Friend to win and Bush Beauty is likely to struggle unless priced 13/2 & less and then a tricky juvenile to assess. Mimi Luke was beaten by Autumns Blush on debut at Newmarket. However, she had such a poor start it may be foolish to simply consider Noseda's horse a straightforward winner. The difficulty is trying to assess what Bailey's filly achieved when third at Windsor. Time may tell that was a great performance or pretty ordinary. Autumns Blush is sure to improve and would be my selection.

I would like to say how sorry I am to hear that Reg Hollinshead passed away today [Monday]. He was a great trainer and someone I had followed and respected.

1:50 Yarmouth (23rd October) Free Horse Racing Tips

An EBF Maiden Stakes over 6f 3y on heavy going.

Huntsman's Close has been a costly bet for many a punter. There is little doubt Michael Bell's son of Elusive Quality is well regarded but his temperament has been questionable, ruining his chances, particularly his first two starts. He was much too keen in those contests which left him weak at the finish. Having been no bigger than 7/2 on all starts it has been hard work for his followers. Little by little his keen tendencies have seemingly been tamed. Spencer let this bay colt bowl along and had every horse in trouble bar Van Der Neer last time out. Hannon's colt fairly cantered past Huntsman's Close and has since proven to be a promising colt taking a stakes race, unbeaten on his second start. Today lady luck may be on the side of Huntsman's Close with Hayley Turner taking the ride. This American bred has run well on all ground and certainly wasn't hampered on the soft at Yarmouth on debut. In fact of all his performances this seaside track has seen some of his best efforts. A naturally pacey juvenile, I can see Turner allowing him to bowl along with the lead and then try to gain a winning edge at the two pole and then hang on in these testing conditions. This looks a fine opportunity to gain that elusive first win.

HCE Stat Bets:

3:30 Lingfield - Kuantan One

Interesting prospect and sound each way claims if starting 13/2 & less SP.

1:00 Yarmouth (5th October) Free Horse Racing Tips

The second division of the Holiday On The Norfolk Broads Maiden Stakes over 7f 3y on heavy ground.

Half A Person caught the eye on debut at Leicester. This bay colt by Holy Roman Emperor cost £35 ,000 at the Doncaster breeze-up sales & nibbled in the the market but still went off an outsider at 18/1. Joseph Barton's two-year-old led with a furlong to go but finished fourth when fading in the closing stages. Considering this youngster was such a big price it could indicate that he may have needed the race. Peter Chapply-Hyam is one of few trainers who truly excel with their debutantes featuring a strike rate which is similar to that of fancied juveniles on their second start. This factor is a rarity for two-year-old trainers who, generally, attain a greater win rate beyond their debut effort. The winner, Penny Rose, has since won at Stakes class, while the second has run creditably when a beaten favourite. On balance this looks a weaker contest and Half A Person should sit handy with that experience on side. If improving a length or two for that initial start, he is the horse to beat. It is worth noting from a statistical angle that Chapple-Hyam features no more than respectable win and place claims with juveniles priced 13/2 & less on their second, which slightly tempers enthusiasm.

Lionheart hails from Luca Cumani's stable, teaming up with apprentice Patrick Hills who deserves more opportunities and a professional rider. This chestnut colt - a son of Zamindar -  has been relatively fancied on all three starts but seems to have fallen just short of what it takes to win at maiden class. His last run at Yarmouth over course and distance was  disappointing and I would favour others.

The majority of the raced juveniles look moderate. In fact, ample improvement is needed to hold any chance. The betting is the best guide to Jodie's GemSweeping Rock on their second start. Both would have fair win and place claims if priced 13/2 & less but both would need to be substantially backed to figure.

Mark Johnston is an infrequent visitor to this seaside venue with mixed results. Flashlight was quite an expensive purchase at 135,000euros but went off relatively unfancied at Beverley on soft ground over 7f. He was green and outpaced, but plugged on in the final furlong although never troubling the leaders. More is needed here and although wiser for that initial start looks to have something to prove.

One of the most interesting juveniles here is the Roger Varian-trained Putra Eton. This son of Danehill Dancer is a half-brother to Listed winner Pimpernel and a very expensive purchase at 400,000gns. H R H Sultan Ahmad Shah has owned a number of talents, especially with the late Michael Jarvis and this Derby entrant is worthy of respect. Few trainers capture my attention more than Varian, especially with his two-year-old debuatntes. His strike rate with fancied runners is second to none. As with all debutantes, it is never easy to beat experience, talented opposition. The majority of this field do not register but Half A Person will be wiser today and looks a live wire. Putra Eton is likely to be fitter than not and if priced 7/2 & less or substantially backed it would be a sign of confidence.

Conclusion: The majority of the field don't set the greatest of standards and need to find ample improvement. The betting will be the best guide and if any of the once raced juveniles are priced 13/2 & less it would give greater hope. I would be surprised if there is much money for most. This race is most likely to be a duel between Half A Person and the debutant Putra Eton. Peter Chapple-Hyam's horse has the proven form although whether there will be a marked improvement is a matter of opinion. The big price could suggest he wasn't as fit as a fiddle although the trainer's general statistics suggest that most of their debutantes are fit and ready. That is the dilemma. His second time out strike rate is far from impressive which tempers enthusiasm. On the other side of the coin you are always chancing your arm backing debutantes. However, Varian is a master at priming horses for their racecourse bow. Putra Eton is an expensive purchase and related to a talented filly. The betting is probably the best guide and the stronger he is in the betting the more I would consider this juvenile. If priced 7/2 & less he could be the horse to back. A tricky race which looks out of the two favourites. Putra Eton would just get the nod.

2:20 Yarmouth (24th July) Free Horse Racing Tips

A maiden Auction Stakes over 6f 3y on good ground.

A large field for this restricted event, the majority of the field have raced with half a dozen debutantes from stables which generally need the run.

Vestibule, a chestnut daughter of Kheleyf, is a fair juvenile for this grade. If not for bumping into a few talents along the way, she would almost certainly have lost her maiden tag. The form of her Newbury race reads well. Eve Johnson Houghton has stated that this  £5,000 yearling purchase would be seen to better effect on fast ground, which makes those performances on softer conditions all the more meritorious. With five runs under the belt, that experience will be a boost on this straightforward course. There is always the fear that any juvenile with a few hard races may regress and that would be the only reason this little filly will not run a big race at a handy weight. On balance, this looks an ideal opportunity and if prices allow a decent each way wager.

However, there are a few interesting form horses in opposition which are deserving of respect.

Golden Beau is on a recovery mission after disappointing when a short-priced favourite at Hamilton. This son of Gold Away ran in what has turned out to be a hot maiden on debut and then ran with credit on his second start at huge odds. This gelding has shown enough ability to suggest he can go close here although he is a tricky customer. Perhaps there was something amiss at Hamilton but it could also have been due to a change of tactics. In truth, he was a little keen that day and pressed for the lead, which varied from his former runnings where, if anything, Stubbs' youngster struggled for pace, doing his best work at the line. Most horses need to run at their own pace, he looks a plodder rather than a sprinter, and I can see him being held up today. On this faster ground there may be a chance this bay will be outpaced. A difficult horse to assess. If capable, I would expect a late charge but a juvenile I would probably rather watch than bet. One to respect from a talented trainer.

Not Now Blondie ran well on debut at Yarmouth when racing over the minimum trip. This chestnut filly looked well in her coat and ran on with vigour behind Pixilated. Chris Dwyer is a canny trainer and he must have been pleased the way she ran to the line, suggesting an extra furlong would reap rewards. However, connections stepped up markedly in class when visiting Newmarket on her second start. Perhaps the ground was too testing but it looked a tough task and this daughter of Notnowcato was eclipsed. In truth, that first race at Yarmouth was terribly restricted, almost on a par with plating class. This is her grade and at speculative odds it wouldn't be a surprise to see a better performance but whether she can live with some of these is a matter of opinion.

Joint top weighted Fit For A King could be another horse to show his last run to be all wrong. This son of Royal Applause showed a glimmer of ability on debut at Windsor over 6f.  After a tardy start, outpaced, he ran on with hope suggesting there was better to come. John Best's two-year-olds are often seen to good effect on their second start and this 23,000euro yearling purchase was supported. Whether it was track, ground, or both, this bay colt never looked happy trailing home third from last. It might be a mistake to think that is all he has to offer. Very difficult to have a strong opinion - but a horse which may go well at speculative odds.

*Bountybeamadam surprised me when running a stormer at Newbury. Cosgrove made a bold bid from the front and for much of the way George Baker's charge looked to have the field in trouble. This daughter of Bahamian Bounty doesn't lack for speed and should appreciate these drying conditions. Time  has told that second effort at Salisbury was a decent race. The second and fifth have both won and in many ways this could be a drop in class. There is a possibility her front-running tactics last time gave advantage. However, this March foal is a speedy type who is likely to bole along in front and could well have many of this field struggling to keep tabs. Worthy of respect.

On a form line through Momalorka there probably isn't a great deal between Sound Of Guns and the above mentioned. This 20,000gns yearling was fancied to run well on debut, which suggests this daughter of Acclamation is held in some regard. Ed Walker's stable are good judges and their juveniles often go well on their second start, especially when fancied in the betting. With Faithfilly coming from the same camp, they could well have a line with Vestibule. If improving a length or two, a big run should be expected.

The majority of the debutantes hail from stables which usually progress with racing. Hugo Palmer's Star Sequence would be one of the more likelier types but best watched. It would be a surprise if this didn't go to a juvenile with experience.

Conclusion: An intriguing race in its own way. A large field and plenty of pace will have many of these toiling in the first few furlongs. Vestibule is a decent juvenile at this grade and if at her best must have sound each way claims. There is always a slight fear of regression but I can imagine connections will view this race as their best chance yet. Sound Of Guns could go well. It took serious money to be such a short price on debut, especially for backers to fancy their chances against a number of proven horses. That could be a significant pointer and I would expect a bold show. If substantially backed, or favourite, it would be a surprise to see Walker's juvenile out of the frame. Bountybeamadam will probably set the pace and could appreciate this faster surface. I'm still not sure if that last run slightly flattered but the Salisbury contest holds some merit and she looks a determined type and Baker's juveniles have been in cracking form of late. An each way candidate. Golden Beau  & Fit For A King have something to prove after pretty poor runs.  Both are deserving of respect and could go well at speculative odds. A competitive race for this grade and it will take a decent juvenile to win. Vestibule, Bountybeamadam and Sound Of Guns are worthy each way selections, while Golden Beau and Fit For A King could be worth a speculative punt.

2:10 Yarmouth (11th July) Free Horse Racing Tips

A Median Auction Maiden Stakes over 5f 43y on soft ground.

Uncomplicated, the only filly in this race, has been placed on all three starts. Jim Boyle is a talented trainer and this daughter of Bahamian Bounty has faced some stiff opposition beaten by Rhamnus, Ishi Honest & Threes Grand. With proven form and racing on soft ground she ticks a couple of boxes. On balance, this bay filly has just about enough ability to win a race at this grade but could be prone to an improving horse or talented debutante. A fair each way bet if prices allow.

Mick Channon's two-year-olds have been in good form all season and he has sung the praises of Sixties Icon, a versatile sire whose juveniles can run at any distance. The Sixties is quite strongly fancied in the betting and highly tried after attempting the Chesham Stakes (Listed) at Royal Ascot. It seems a rather strange move to drop back to the minimum trip after running at 7f last twice. It is usually the case, horses struggle with such a change in pace and I would have fears this gelding will be outpaced. Money talks with this stable and if starting favourite it could well be the case that trainer knows best. However, I would rather take a watching brief because this may be a rude awakening.

Medicoe is one of the more interesting horses. Sir Mark Prescott's gelding was fancied to run a big race at Ripon over 6f. However, a wide draw didn't help his chances and he was outpaced and showed little ability, beaten many lengths by the capable Bircham. Starting a well backed 11/4 shot suggests the stable had high hopes of a promising effort but you often get the good, bad and ugly on debut. In truth, that was a pretty ordinary performance but horses can often be excused a disappointing first start. The betting is key to this horse today. If priced 13/2 & less, expect a big run. Probably the bet in this race if fitting this criteria. If a marked drifter near the off it would be a negative.

Of the others The Manx Missile looks held by Uncomplicated on their Sandown form.

Oscars Journey is the first two-year-old to race for John Jenkins this season. This gelding is a son of Dubai Destination out of a decent Listed-winning mare, who had a long and very lucrative career. This home bred could well progress with racing. Jenkin's two-year-olds do not feature the best strike rate on debut and generally need the run. Worth noting for the future.

Linda Stubbs is a talented trainer and their juveniles are always worthy of respect. Southern Sapphire was a relatively cheap breeze-up purchase costing £8,000. The stable can win on debut but statistically - as with most juveniles - have a greater chance of success on their second start. It is interesting they have travelled to Yarmouth because it is a course they have found success. Additionally, it is good to see Eaves in the saddle. I can see this gelding running well.

Conclusion: Uncomplicated should enjoy this drop in class. She is racing against the boys but a determined sort. The distance, ground and ability all indicate a big run. If touching an each way price, worth of a bet. The main opposition in the betting have something to prove. The Sixties is a strange one. I would have to have concerns about this drop to the minimum trip. It may be the making of him but after running at 7f this will seem all the faster and could easily be outpaced in the early stages, if not the race. I would have to take a watching brief. Medicoe gives conflicting signals. The betting is the best guide. If priced 13/2 & less I would expect a much-improved performance. If strongly fancied, the horse to beat. The betting is the key! Quite interested in Southern Sapphire. Stubbs doesn't venture to Yarmouth that often and especially considering it is the only ride for Tom Eaves. The stable can win of debut and if fancied could go well.
