Silver Blaze didn't achieve a great deal on debut - in very testing conditions at Newcastle - but I would expect a much-improved performnace today. This son of Haafhd is an imposing gelding with plenty of size and scope to progress with racing. He is a handsome juvenile, strong through the neck, and I was quite taken by his appearence on debut. Swinbank often sends his better two-year-olds to run at Newcastle and this 21,000gns yearling was backed at the off. Conditions told that day and it was a real slog to get home and after showing some promise mid race, he wasn't overly pressed when his chance had gone.
On this faster ground, much wiser/fitter for that initial start, Swinbank will be hoping for better. A fair each way selection at respectable odds.
HCE: ''A two-horse battle. It could have gone either way in a head-bob finish. Lawn Jamil prevailed from Silver Blaze who may had taken the spoils if not wandering slightly to his left.''
