4:45 Wolverhampton (5th July) - Result

A maiden auction stakes over 7f 32y.

A weak race.

Goal Hanger is a nice looking filly by Exceed And Excel and full sister to Exgray. Dascombe's youngster was relatively fancied on debut, when running over 6f at Pontefract, although very weak late on, which may have been a sign of weakness. In truth, she was completely outclassed by the winner but that may have been due to running at an insufficient trip. Better was seen at Chester next time over 7f. A front running display saw an improved effort. Goal Hanger didn't have the finish to stay with Kinetica and lost second close home. She is likely to try to lead all the way and has a fighting chance of doing just that. However, at short odds may be vulnerable.

I have a part share in Tweet Lady - the people's horse - and hopeful of a big run. In truth, that is no grand statement as anyone can be an owner by registering on twitter. Rod Millman is a trainer often overlooked but capable of winning, especially with his two-year-olds. This daughter of Royal Applause showed up well for a while - touching short prices in running - before tiring late on. Millman's juveniles feature a poor strike rate on debut but often go well on their second start. Tweet Lady finished a few lengths behind Elusive Kate, and a form line with Kinetica suggests she is a length or two behind Goal Hanger. In a poor race, the people's horse may go close.

William Knight has had a quiet start to this two-year-old season but another trainer worth noting with juveniles on their second start. Meanwhile didn't achieve much on debut at Salisbury but Knight has a fair win and place rate with juveniles priced 13/2 & less.

Bit A Craic is a decent looker and may be capable of better.

Conclusion: A low class race. This is a difficult race to assess although a number may progress from their debut. Goal Hanger is likely to make a bold bid and may well be good enough to win. Tweet Lady and Meanwhile have each way claims especially if priced 13/2 & less.

HCE: ''The late drift on Goal Hanger didn't speak well for Dascombe's representative and disappointed. A poor race. Lady Tycoon was well backed for one of Brisbourne's on debut and looked for all the world to have stolen a winning lead. Touching short odds in running, she was chased by Meanwhile who seemed to be struggling everywhere but the final furlong.''
