Tim Pitt Goes Sonko

We made a couple of declarations yesterday with Brink declared at Wetherby this afternoon and Sonko declared up at Musselburgh tomorrow.

Sonko is declared in the 5f 2 y o maiden up at Musselburgh on Friday evening. Lee Topliss takes the ride and claims a valuable 5 lb off her back. This means that she gets 10lbs from the six colts in the race and 5lbs from the other filly. Lee called in this morning to have a sit on her through the stalls. There is a grape vine whisper already for the Bryan Smart colt and Fulbright and Blue Shoes showed up well on the track so far, but our filly has come forward from her first run and we will learn more about her again tomorrow. She strode on nicely yesterday behind her leadhorse but can still show an inclination to hang slightly when she comes off the bridle.

The remainder of the string seem well and we will ride Dark Ranger back this morning as he is so fresh and well. If we gave him any longer off he is liable to do himself a mischief such is his demeanour at the minute. His Lawman 2 y o half brother had his first taste of grass yesterday as he strode on upsides Geanie Mac (Needwood Blade filly). He will probably be seen to better light as a three year old but goes nicely at this stage of his career and we shall continue to go forward with him unless he tells us otherwise. Geanie Mac continues to please but is a very laid back filly and can be quite lazy at home. This in my eyes is a good sign though as these types usually have plenty left in the locker. Hopefully I can be proved right in time.  Dark Spirit and Jordans Chrissie (Ifraaj filly) strode on together second lot and all being well both will not be far away from a racecourse appearance again soon.
