Monday's Thoughts

1:00 Lingfield
A maiden auction over a mile. The betting suggests this is a four-horse race at best with a couple of experienced juveniles against two debutantes. Reem Star will appreciate this step up in distance and ideally may even want a little further in time. Dunlop has done well with his two-year-olds on the all-weather and the one to beat. Destiny Of Dreams ran a fair race last time and must have place claims at the least. It is encouraging that Jo Crowley has been in good form with her two-year-olds this season and a very capable trainer. Owners Kilstone limited have been the main source of winners and it would be no surprise to see an improved performance. Palagonia is bred in the purple and could be a winner waiting to happen - a sister to Breeders' Cup Juvenile winner. However, even though backed on the exchanges, the Johnston two-year-olds are so hit and miss on debut I would rather watch today. Henry Cecil is represented by Aldedash - a £32,000 breeze-up purchase. It is never easy to win on debut especially against experienced individuals but class can prevail, so one to be feared. On balance, Reem Star and Destiny Of Dreams are likely to be fit and ready which is the key factor in a race of this type.
