Tuesday's Thoughts

A quiet day with low-class racing.

2:30 Beverley

A restricted auction race with most runners showing limited ability.

Whitstable Native - a cheap American-bred colt by Bertolini - ran well on debut at Folkestone after a slow start finished with a wet sail. John Best's two-year-olds often improve for the run and when fancied on their second start feature quite impressive win and place statistics. Clearly a juvenile going forward and although the form of that debut is no more than respectable for this grade it was more the impression that there is a good deal more to come.

The main opposition comes from Moral Issue. A progressive juvenile who has run well on his last two starts. On both occasions Jedd O'Keeffe's charge has been beaten by a couple of fair sorts in No Poppy and Riverdale. Perhaps better over 6f, this colt by Ishiguru should finish this 5f well and be battling to the line.

Moral Issue has probably the more proven form of the two, however, it would be difficult to pick between them. Whitstable Native has the potential to be a fair juvenile while we can ascertain the level set by Moral Issue. An intriguing match.

3:00 Beverley

The second division of this auction race. A pretty moderate contest and a good opportunity for Jonelha to get her head in front. This daughter of Kyllachy has shown good speed when campaigned over 6f and looks to travel well in her race and may appreciate this drop to 5f. With Kieren Fallon riding, this should be a golden opportunity.
