2:30 Ffos Las

An EBF maiden over 6f.

This looks a match between Malpas Missile and the debutante Lamasaas.

It is something of a surprise that Malpas Missile hasn't won a race as she clearly sets a fair level of ability. In truth, a couple of outings at Chester have not suited this daughter of Elusive City and a more conventional track should see a big run today. Tom Dascombe hasn't reached the heights he set last year and to be fair the majority of his two-year-olds are limited this season but this bay filly is one of his string worthy of note.

Lamasaas, an American-bred colt by Henny Hughes could be a class act. A costly buy at $230,000, it is encouraging that Hills has entered this youngster (one of five for the stable) for the Gimcrack (Group 2). Hills sent out Shropshire to win well at Haydock who is similarly entered for this prestigious York race over 6f. That looked a moderate contest and the likes of Malpas Missile will mean Hills' runner will have to be fit and ready to prevail today.

Malpass Missile has the proven ability and will take some beating.
