6:45 Chester (9th June)

A maiden for colts and fillies over this turning 5f where a low draw can be a big advantage.

Not too many of these have shown much form and a high draw certainly hinders a couple.

Itsthursdayalready finished second to Oondiri on debut, which was a so so effort. That was only an auction event so in ways this is a step up in class, although this doesn't appear a strong maiden to be fair. Givens has a very good strike rate with the few runners he sends here and from a low draw this colt will have his supporters.

Reddy To Star is a well balanced horse and has run two promising races. Philip Robinson will need all his skills to get this colt by Redback into a favourable position from a high draw. Cox's two-year-old has an element of ability but the draw is a negative.

Il Forno is another who has a tall order from the eleven box. Nicholls' juvenile showed good speed on debut but this drop back to 5f may take the edge of him here.

Deal is pony sized and may be suited by Chester. Compared with most, she probably has the edge on form. Hannon does well at Chester and if this filly gets to the rail, she must have a decent chance.

Of the rest, Cheshire Lady is worth noting for the future.

A watching race.

Race review: 'Lots of non runners changed the complexion of this race. For much of the way it looked as though Reddy To Star was going to win but Itsthursdayalready managed to prevail after finding all manner of problems. This probably wasn't the greatest of races for Chester.'
