6:10 Sandown (4th June)

A restricted maiden auction over 5f where a high draw can be an advantage.

Palisades Park and Warning Song re-oppose once more after racing at Salisbury. The former was quite short in the betting and given a very easy introduction. This colt by Compton Place is a good-looking juvenile and there is no doubting improvement will be seen today. It will be interesting to see how he fares with Warning Song. Perrett's colt is athletic and quite tall. He didn't seem to have much idea of what to do on debut but then ran on very well in the final furlong to suggest that his recent run over 6f at Leicester would be ideal. In truth, I think he was suited by the 6f but was beaten by two talented juveniles. This step back to 5f will be interesting and he should run a good race as long as he doesn't get outpaced from a relatively low draw. Hannon and Perrett's juvenile ought to run big races in an auction event.

Of the others, Listillo ran in a competitive race on debut and Harry Dunlop's two-year-olds can improve a good deal for their run. This breeze-up purchase may show more in this lower grade.

A watching race.

Race review: 'Jamie Osbourne has had a very quiet season but Treadwell, his third juvenile to race this year, ran a fine race to win on debut. This colt by Footstepsinthesand was always handy and quite an attractive sort. He managed to overhaul the long-time leader, Warning Song, and may have been a shade lucky to keep Hannon's Palisades Park at bay who took a while to understand what was happening and would have probably won on another day. All three left the rest in their wake and each has ability.'
