4:00 Wolverhampton (22nd June)

A maiden for colts and fillies over the extended 5f (216y).

This has the look of a weak maiden.

Suffolk Punch ran well on debut in quite a competitive stakes race. A slow starter, he ran on in pleasing fashion and should progress with racing. It is usually a good sign to see one of Balding's juveniles contesting a stake race on debut and it wouldn't be a surprise to see much improvement. The basic form of this Barathea colt is nothing special - but more can be expected today and a win should come his way.

Captain's Paradise cost 115,000gns and likely to have his supporters. The negative is that Sir Mark Prescott has a pretty poor win rate on debut and more likely to be placed and progress with racing.

A watching race.

Race review: 'A poor contest. Suffolk Punch was very well backed but didn't improve on his first run at Chepstow and always struggling to go the pace. Clearly a step up to 7f is needed although you would have liked to have seen some pace at the finish. A horse to be careful with at short odds. Dixie Bright won this well enough and keeps up the good form for Givens. Listillo had the run of the race and had all of these on the back foot and looked the likely winner for most. This colt doesn't have the most fluent of actions and didn't finish the race. The well-backed Dolphin Rock made the frame to please supporters. I would be very careful backing these on their next start as this looked a poor race.'
