3:50 Leicester (25th May)

Quite an interesting auction maiden over 5f for colts and fillies.

Absolute Music and Reddy To Star set a decent standard of form and should take some pegging back with valuable experience on their side. Cowell's juvenile ran out a promising second place at Ascot. Relatively fancied in the betting (5/1) and showing ability, the winner won well and the form would suggest a decent run here. Reddy To Star disappointed on debute but certainly made up for that next time at Warwick. A lovely, fluent runner this colt is not the biggest but a sturdy type and will run well.

Duke Of Rainford is quite an interesting runner for Ian Williams. It wouldn't be a surprise to see this colt show much more today as he was well backed on debut but never had a chance after a slow start and very inexperienced. Williams has a decent two-year-old in My Mandy and this relatively expensive colt was entered to run in the Brocklesby and Lily Agnes stakes races. This certainly conflicts with a poor debut but if these entries have some worth, then a better effort may be on the cards. Certainly a horse worthy of greater consideration than its form or betting suggests.

The betting should tell the chances of Nosedive. Flaxen lake, from Reg Hollinsheads stable, would be of interest in backed as he does find a winner or two on debut.

An intriguing race.
