2:30 Nottingham (8th May)

A sizable field of fillies for this auction maiden event at Nottingham over 5f.

Habaayib ran a fair race on debut at Newmarket, from a race where the form is working out well. This equates to a drop in grade and this filly by Royal Applause has a good opportunity to open her account at the second time of asking.

This doesn't look the most competitive of heats but a few others worth mentioning are Let It Rock, trained by Karl Burke, already an entrant for a stakes race, which give encouragement and Tartufo Dolce who is a sister to Siena Gold and reported as a filly ' Who knows her job and is nice and fast'. Given's had a two-year-old run a decent race at Catterick (Dancing Freddy) and money for this juvenile would suggest a big run is expected.

Hachi has been entered to run in a selling/claiming race which doesn't inspire confidence.

An interesting contest.

A watching race.

Race review: 'A host of non-runners made this an even more uncompetitive race, with Habaayib being backed to 1/4on. Most of the unraced didn't seem to be fancied although there was late money for Williams' Fenella Rose (always a good sign for this stable). A nice-looking filly by Compton Place, she crtainly put down a fair challenge to the favourite and for a stride or two looked to have the edge. However, Habaayib ran out an easy winner after hanging to her left and showing signs of inexperience on a blustery day. There wasn't many who ever got into this race and Dunlop's juvenile had the form to win a race of this nature and could progress with racing. Williams should win a race on what we saw today.'
