2:10 Yarmouth (28th May)

A small field for this novice stakes at Yarmouth over 6f.

Niran ran well on debut beating Shark Man in a driving finish. Few juveniles have the class or experience to win a stakes race on their first start and credit must be given for such an effort. On the negative side, I cannot see this colt progressing a huge amount as he was giving quite a determined ride and although Shark Man is a capable horse, if this turned out to be a decent stakes event Brittain's two-year-old may have to dig deep.

It is difficult to know what to think about King Of Axum. He ran on like a train on debut and won a race that has proven to be very good. His run at York was a disaster waiting to happen as he was completely run off his feet and never looked happy being pushed along. This 6f will be a much more suitable distance and he has a chance to prove his worth.

Brisbane was a relatively short price on debut but beaten a long way and needs to improve. Gosden's two-year-olds haven't hit form this season and it would be best to watch his colt today.

The unraced have a tall order to win this. It is interesting to see Spencer booked to ride England and Excellent Guest is said to be a capable juvenile.

A watching race.

Race review: 'Niran done well to gain his second win and always looked to hold the edge over the others although a number put down a challenge. King Of Axum ran ok but seemed to be hanging and looked very awkward for most of the race. Brisbane rallied late but couldn't find enough.'
