2:10 Redcar (25th May)

A selection of form horses and unraced competing in this 5f where a high draw may be advantageous.

Gower Sophia is not the biggest or the most talented of fillies but she has a good, battling attitude and should have a say in this restricted auction maiden. She has shown speed at Ripon but her other two starts featured a strong finish and this quick 5f dash may not be so much against her but a stiffer step would probably be better. A decent type for this kind of race.

Social Grace finished second in a poor-looking race at Newmarket in which Johnston's The Hermitage won with ease. It is difficult to know what this filly achieved.

Oondiri has shown an element of ability and fair speed last time before tiring in the last furlong. She will run a race but may have to settle for a place.

Regardless may be of interest at a big price. After a terribly slow start she ran wide for most of the race and ran on quite well to the line. Rees (trainer) is no fool and they have been lucky enough to train a few fair two-year-olds. This filly has the added bonus of decent breeding. Certainly one to consider at speculative odds.

Of the unraced the betting should be most informative. Miami Gator has been entered in a selling/claiming race which doesn't impress.

A watching race.

Race review: 'Probably not the strongest of auction races although Oondiri won with a touch to spare after leading all the way. Gower Sophia had beaten the Easterby winner on debut but disappointed here and may have regressed after three races. Itsthursdayalready ran an ok race beating Regardless in third. The Rees filly started well and had a fair chance but seemed to lose her way mid-race and then ran on again. She may have gone closer if not for that. This didn't look a very good race and the form may be limited.'
