Weatherby's Hamilton Insurance Maiden Auction Stakes over 5f 43y on good to firm ground. A small field of five runners, four raced. Michael Bell fields his first two-year-old of the season. This daughter of Art Connoisseur was a relatively cheap yearling purchase at £20,000 but hails from a high-profile owner in Mrs Susan Roy. This February foal is a half-sister to Dutch Rose who has won five out of ten races to date. The mare was a fair juvenile for Ann Duffield who won her first two starts. The stable have a fantastic strike rate at this course although their general win rate on debut isn't as impressive. Using Horse Trainer Directory Bell said: ''On Tuesday we have a box full of runners at Yarmouth starting the meeting off with a nice two-year-old filly making her first career start. Sunningdale Rose has progressed all the time in her work of late. Although she will possibly need the run we hope that she will be a nice filly who will give a good account of herself.'' From considering Bell's comment, the course strike rate and limited nature of this race, this bay filly has fair claims although it is rarely straight forward for horses to win on their racecourse bow, especially against raced opponents.

There is little doubt the standout from this field will be Lady Lydia. She is a big, strong filly who overshadowed her rivals at Newmarket and considering most originated from leading trainers it adds to her appeal. Michael Wigham doesn't train many juveniles but they know the score and it could be telling there was money for this daughter of Kheleyf. That may have been as much to do with her physical stature but there was clearly some expectation. This 2,000euro yearling purchase looks an exceptional buy for such a small price. Interestingly, she is owned by ex-trainer Vince Smith, who was fond of sending his juveniles to this seaside course. She was a little keen on debut and tired in the final furlong but that was a promising effort. Not the easiest of horses to assess but sets the standard. [Update, just notice a big move on the exchanges.]

Lilo Lil is a sweet little filly trained by David Griffiths. She is held in some regard by connections and doesn't lack for pace. Bogged down at Musselburgh on debut, she nearly sprang a surprise at Redcar when second at 33/1. This daughter of Captain Gerrard had a fine chance last time out but probably bumped into a talented juvenile. If this turns into a moderate race she could win. However, I just have a feeling one of the favourites will prevail.

Anfield showed good pace on debut before tired in the closing stages. Better should be seen today but others are of more interest.

Tyrsal is an intriguing runner after being fancied on both starts but looking quite poor if distance beaten is any guide. This son of Jeremy is a decent-looking colt but he needs to have an excuse for those poor defeats. Robert Eddery is a canny trainer and it isn't beyond the realms this youngster has ability but things have just not got to plan. If racing in a large field, it would have been a speculative punt at huge odds but in a small race the odds are unlikely to be as tempting.

Conclusion: Lilo Lil has a fighting chance and likely to make the most of her experience. It may be to their advantage to set the pace and hope to sneak a lead. However, I can see this race being out of Sunningdale Rose and Lady Lydia. The betting will be a very good guide to this pair. Michael Bell's juvenile has some hope with a good course strike rate and positive quote. If this horse starts favourite I would consider it the one to beat. Conversely, if Lady Lydia is the jolly I would give her the nod. She is a gorgeous-looking filly with size and scope to progress with racing. She has a round action so fast ground might be a slight negative. The horse which starts favourite makes most appeal.

4:40 Lingfield (Tuesday 26th February) Free Horse Racing Tips

The Breathe Spa At Marriott Lingfield Maiden Stakes over 6f.  A small field of four runners but a fascinating race in its own way. Three raced juveniles, from leading stables, with one debutante. Two colts race two fillies on this standard surface.

Star Of Rohm is a familiar horse to many punters, mostly for being beaten favourite, which has happened on three of his seven starts to date. In fact, bar his debut, he has started 7/1 or less on all contests. By all accounts this son of Exceed And Excel has plenty enough ability to win a maiden but he's clearly a quirky character. He has gone close on numerous occasions, but never quite looking as though he will prevail at the business end. This chestnut gelding cost 32,000gns as a yearling and it is a positive Michael Bell's charge is still in the ownership of Whitehead & Lomas. There have been plenty of sales to have given up the ghost so that must be taken as sign they envisage victory this season.

He was a beaten favourite on his last start at Wolverhampton back  in October. After an absence of over one hundred days you have to take his fitness on trust. However, Bell has stated that their horses are in fantastic form and this youngster has been ridden at home by Jamie Spencer on the Al Bahatri gallops. Star Of Rohm's strength is his natural pace. On a number of starts he has traveled with ease and has certainly traded at short odds on a regular basis.

This trip looks ideal and it could well suit him racing on this turning course. There is no doubt this gelding is a the type of horse which could turn your hair grey overnight. However, this looks a fine opportunity to get off the mark. Even though he is likely to start one of the favourites I would be tempted to place a lay bet in running at huge odds on just in case he looks a certainty and throws in the towel.

Conclusion: To be fair this looks a fine opportunity for Star Of Rohm to win his first race but at short odds he is probably a watching brief unless you want to get your heart racing. I can see him traveling like a winner but the question is whether he has that winning attitude.
