2:10 Goodwood Racing Tips (21st May) BRITISH STALLION STUDS EBF MAIDEN STAKES

An EBF Maiden Stakes over 6f on good going. Eight two-year-olds: two with race experience and mix of well-touted debutantes from leading stables. I will try to keep this brief [famous last words].

In Haste sets a fair standard after a unlucky defeat on debut and not best suited by Chester when competing in the Lily Agnes Conditional Stakes. Eve Johnson Houghton's grey colt ran on well that day and will appreciate this extra furlong. If available at each-way prices must have good claims.

Captainthunderbolt is interesting from a statistical point of view. He was a beaten favourite on debut at Bath in what was a very restricted race type. He wasn't pressed when headed and gave the impression there would be ample improvement. On that basic form he needs to find something. This extra furlong will help. If fancied in the betting, he has a high strike rate. Not sure if this youngster will drift in the betting. On the stats if priced 13/2 & less should be noted.

In many respects In Haste should have most debutantes struggling to compete. He may well do just that but it is worth noting a number of these juveniles have reputations as talented two year olds. War Whisper, Bobby WheelerWelford have been given Stakes entries, which suggests they are winners in waiting. I'd be surprised if this trio didn't win soon.

Noble Peace, George WilliamWillsy are best watched. The latter may have claims if priced 10/1 & less.

Conclusion: In Haste & Captainthunderbolt ave strong claims if priced 13/2 & less. The former will almost certainly be in that betting guide and if available at each way prices is worth a bet. Not quite sure what to think about the betting on the other mentioned trained by Brian Meehan. If fancied has similarly lofty claims. The three major debutantes: War Whisper, Bobby Wheeler & Welford could well prove worth opposition. A fascinating race.
