Snapshot
This
distinguished tournament is named after its founder William Samuel
Cox, who is also responsible for founding the Moonee Valley
racecourse situated in the beautiful Melbourne landscape. It is a
weight for age competition for three year old and above thoroughbred
horses for a stake of three million US dollars. The track is 2040
meters long and holds only group one competitions. This title is part
of a local series of world acclaimed and competitive Queen Elizabeth
Stakes, the Melbourne Cup and Golden Slipper. This is the basic
platform which these horses are tested and streamlined for the Cox
Plate Tournament held in October of every year since its maiden run
that was held in 1922. Most memorable of the superstars of this track
is the Kingston Town that managed to win the title in 1980 and
retained it for two subsequent years before relinquishing it in
eighty three. The shortest favorite of the tournament is Phar Lap
with $1.7 recorded in 1931. More recently is the admission of the
title in the Emirates World Series in 1999, which is a grand Prix
event hosting other world class races like the Arlington Million and
the Dubai World Cup. Owing to its portfolio, the cox plate title
receives an overwhelming two hundred nominations every year.
2015

to purchase the cox plate tickets entry tickets beforehand. For

August. The Acceptances follow soon after with the first one's date
yet to be set, but will definitely be within the month of September.
The third and final acceptances are to be held in the sixth of
October awaiting the main events on the twenty fourth. Betting
enthusiasts are in for a feasible feast as history would prove most
of the favorites end up winning the events with a horse of 70%
winning

- Side Glance from the Great Britain
- Foreteller from Great Britain

The current

so far with 17 each. It is prudent to note that the odds will
continue to change up to the month of the event so keepan eye on the ratings.
