Jane's Memory Heads For Flying Childers

Jane's Memory is to be prepared for the Flying Childers Stakes at Doncaster next month after a setback ruled her out of the Pinsent Masons Lowther Stakes at York.

Trainer Rae Guest took the filly out of Thursday's Group Two on the Knavesmire at the six-day confirmation stage as she has been laid low with a throat infection. However, that problem should not keep her out of action for long and Guest has the Group Two over five furlongs on Town Moor on September 12 in mind for her now.

"She had a throat infection which is why she's not going to run at York," said Guest. "She's going to go for the Flying Childers now, probably. It's a small hiccup, that's all." The daughter of Captain Rio made a winning debut at Leicester in May and has finished second in Listed and Group Three contests at Chantilly in her two subsequent starts.

Guest's smart sprinter Mirza has been a regular visitor to France and was successful on his latest raid in a Listed race over five furlongs at Deauville at the end of July. As there appears nothing in the pipeline shortly across the Channel, Mirza's next run could be in the Betfred Beverley Bullet on the Westwood on August 30. "He's very well but there's nowhere to go. He might run in the Beverley Bullet if he doesn't go back to France," said Guest. "We're just waiting for another race for him. There's not much in the next couple of weeks so he may go to Beverley if the weather is good for him."
