Nicholascopernicus was sent off joint favourite after a fair debut effort but could never quite get involved when finishing seventh at Lingfieild. In truth, Ed Walker's two-year-old wasn't beaten by far and this extra furlong should be a positive. A horse progressing with racing who will benefit from those two races.
Of the debutantes, the betting is the best indicator to their chances. David Simcock fields two with Abdul Malik & Golden Falcon. The stable have first time out winners and these juveniles hold place claims if priced 13/2 & less. I would rather take a watching brief unless substantially backed.
Josam is probably the most interesting of the newcomers, with Richard Hannon's string in good form.
Conclusion: Experience counts for a lot on these turning courses and although Delft and Nicholascopernicus haven't achieve a great deal they are progressive horses who will be primed for big runs. I would be surprised if Delft wasn't placed at least.
