7:45 Haydock (1st July) - Result

A Selling Stakes over 6f on good to firm ground.

Respectable prize money set at £4,528.

Quite a competitive race for its type with a selection of form horses on show, including one winner.

Emma Jean ran a great race last time when losing narrowly to Aquasulis. There is much to like about Moore's bay filly - a daughter of Jeremy. A half-sister to the capable Malpas Missile, this juvenile has strong claims and with the allowance of apprentice jockey Ryan Powell is likely to finish with some zeal.

Rooknraspbryripple is an attractive, big, strong filly who doesn't lack for trying but through a form line with Aquasulis would seem to have a stiff task beating Emma Jean. I would favour the former juvenile trained by Stan Moore.

An outsider worth a second glance is Storm Fairy (HCE Dark Horse). This filly ran earlier in the season and showed speed before tiring. On balance she looks to have little hope. However, the Burke team should be respected especially with juveniles on their second start. With a long time off course, stepping up in distance and presumably fit and ready, an improved performance may be seen today.

Conclusion: Not a race type I would generally consider but this is a fair race for the grade. Emma Jean is a decent juvenile at this level and will run a big race. Storm Fairy didn't show much ability on debut but at speculative odds may be a different horse after a long break.

HCE: ''Faraway dropped from maiden class to seller won by a length from Stellar Express. Storm Fairy stepped up on her debut but could never catch the front two.''
