3:35 Newmarket (8th July) - Result

An EBF maiden over 7f on good ground.

Most of these are unraced, with a few youngsters held in high regard.

Of the form horses Right Regal showed promise on debut over course and distance. In fact, the ground was on the soft side that day which may be to the advantage of this son of King's Best if the forecast rain sets in. A 30,000gns purchase, he wasn't best away and not best treated by a wide draw. A little keen over the few furlongs, Botti's youngster travelled very well off the pace and plugged on pretty well at the line. On balance, that looked a fairly competitive race - Mehdi who finished second is a decent sort. I can see Right Regal travelling well for most and making the most of his experience. The only unknown is trying to assess the quality of the opposition. A juvenile with fair win and place claims.

Net Whizz is something of a talking horse and well backed on the exchanges. Mrs Susan Roy always has a strong string of juveniles, often with Noseda. A $240,000 yearling buy, a recent Stakes race entry and significantly Gimcrack (Group 2), connections must be expecting a bold showing. Noseda has good win and place statistics with juveniles priced 13/2 & less.

Of the rest, Sports Section & Police force are worth noting for Mahmood Al Zarooni.

Conclusion: With many debutantes on show it is a difficult race to assess. Net Whizz have fairly strong win and place claims for Noseda. Right Regal has set a respectable level of form and with improvement could be a decent each way bet.

HCE: ''A race with a rich heritage of classy, progressive juveniles and Rougemont - trained by Richard Hannon - looks a type to follow after a tidy win. Sports Section ran on well for second, while Mickdaam will be winning soon. Right Regal looked to have stolen a lead but tired up the hill, while Net Whizz may have disappointed today but should be respected if the money comes again next start.''
