Congratulations to £10,000 Newsells Golden Bonus winner

Congratulations to all the connections of Miss Work Of Art in winning a £10,000 Newsells Golden Bonus as well as a £10,000 Racing Post Yearling Bonus, when impressively landing the Premier Showfreight Yearling Bonus Scheme Maiden Stakes at Lingfield.

Bred by Newsells Park Stud and from the first crop of Dutch Art out of Lacework, the filly was purchased by agent Robin O’Ryan for trainer Richard Fahey for just £29,000 from the DBS Premier Sales. She is owned by Mel Roberts and Ms Nicola Meese.

She is the second two-year-old to pick up the Newsells Golden Bonus, as Helmut Kappes from Stall Juka won €10,000 last year when Kellemoi de Pepita won the BBAG Sales Race at Dusseldorf.

Newsells Park Stud offered the chance to win a ‘Newsells £/€10,000 Golden Bonus’ to buyers of their yearlings in 2009 and 2010. On purchasing a yearling, buyers were entered into a draw to win the Bonus when their horse wins a Racing Post Yearling Bonus race, a class ‘B’ race in France, or the BBAG Sales Race in Germany. Ten lucky people have so far been drawn from the buyers of the Newsells yearlings offered at Arqana Deauville, DBS Premier Sales, BBAG and Tattersalls October Yearling Sale Books 1 and 2.

In 2010 the lucky buyers drawn also included Nicolas Clement, Tony Nerses and George Margarson. Trainer Mark Johnston was drawn in 2009, and is actively targeting his three-parts brother to multiple Group winner Soapy Danger, Tartan Jura, at eligible races this year.

HCE: ''A great initiative by Newsells Park Stud. But what interests me just as much is learning the names of these other qualifiers. I have contacted Newsells in hope they will make this information available. Considering it is good PR on their part we may have a fighting chance. Clearly with an extra €10,000 on offer, these juveniles are more likely to be fit, ready and placed with extra care. Good luck to Newsells Park Stud and the promotion of 2yo racing.''
