A maiden over this extented 1m(141y). This looks a match between Crimson China and Bow River Arch. The former a colt by Giant's Causeway (not sold for $120,000) gave favourite backers a fright when pressing Badeel all the way to the line at Kempton over a mile when a 33/1 shot. That race was run at a fair pace and Meehan's two-year-old was on the verge of being outpaced for much of the race but ran on with some purpose and this extra yardage and experience will be to his benefit today. There is a chance he may struggle for pace once again and that is a slight concern if the main fancies sneak a lead. Bow River Arch - a daughter of Arch and expensive purchase at $190,000 - ran well on debut at Kempton, especially as Noseda's two-year-old wasn't strong in the betting (although backed from 20/1 - 12/1), suggesting the experience was needed and there would be more improvement to come. Noseda has been in fine form with his two-year-olds on this all-weather campaign and this attractive filly may take the beating, especially if gaining an advantage over Crimson China in the home straight. To be fair, neither are the most attractive betting propositions at their respective prices although I would give Bow River Arch the nod. Of the rest, Bassett Road would have claims if substantially backed.
