Tuesday's Thoughts

A number of pretty open races on the two-year-old front and a few short priced chances - but more watching than betting.

2:35 Goodwood
The Cumani/Fallon combination is never a bad starting point and Poplin was primed for a big run at Kempton last time stepping up from 6f to 8f. That was a competitive heat and a number of juveniles were fancied to run well that day and this daughter of Medicean is clearly the form horse. There is always the likelihood a decent debutante may appear at grade one courses (Always The Lady is fancied by the Cox team) but Poplin will take the beating.

2:45 Lingfield
A restricted auction race over 6f. Thomas Tompion is a progressive colt and an interesting runner in what looks to be a weak race. Moore's youngster needed the run on debut and didn't see out the 7f at Brighton when very well backed, finishing third to the talented Mubtadi. Although not the easiest of juveniles to assess, connections will be expecting a big run today.

5:40 Lingfield
This looks a match between Secret Love and Sahafh, who are both capable of winning a maiden without too much fuss. The latter, trained by Saeed Bin Suroor, has an impressive 50% win rate with two-year-olds at the course over the last five years - which is truly an impressive statistic (15/30). Traffic Sister is worth noting for the future and held in some regard by Moore. A giant of a filly, this turning 7f may not be ideal. At a price, Be Amazing - a half-sister to Asset - has been entered to run in a stakes race, which is a sign of encouragement and better could be expected.
