4:30 Chester

A decent field for this auction race over 5f.

The majority of these do not make much interest.

A few speedy types may turn this into a burn-up with Tilliemint and Welsh Inlet natural pace-setters. The former trained by Tim Easterby ran well when the blinkers were applied for the first time at York. Perhaps this daughter of Acclamation was gifted an easy lead on that occasion as her performance at Carlisle next time could be viewed as slightly disappointing. She has plenty of speed but struggles to finish her races.

Welsh Inlet is an attractive filly and definitely looks the type to try and win this from the front. The form of the Ripon race, especially the far side group which she raced, has been boosted by a couple of winners (Belle Bayardo and Blaze Of Thunder). After a narrow loss at Windsor, once again she proved there is just enough ability to win a small race. Willaims is a talented trainer and will get a win at some point. This daughter of Kheleyf has one weakness - that she doesn't finishes her races and like Tilliemint may be vulnerable in the final furlong.

Master Macho is a talented two-year-old at best but seems to be regressing and on recent form is held by Tilliemint and Earl Wild.

The latter trained by Howard Johnson is the class horse of the race. This breeze-up purchase at 32,000euros was fit and ready to run at Musselburgh and backed from huge odds. A sturdy-looking colt by Kodiac, he has plenty of speed but settled well for his first start and ran a cracking race. That was a strong maiden and this two-year-old is held in high regard by the stable and already features an entry for the Gimcrack (Group 2). The major concern is the high draw (8). This youngster could well have the ability to win from any draw but whether they try to get to the rail or sit in behind is a matter of debate. It would be a major handicap if this colt tried to get to the front and had to run wide. Earl Wild has the potential to win races and must be respected today.
