2:00 Brighton (18th August)

Quite a restricted auction maiden over 6f(209y).

It will be interesting to see how Dr Finley, Luminous Star and Sir Bruno compare. None look the greatest of ability but all have shown enough to figure in a race like this.

Dr Finley took an age to get going at Lingfield but could never peg back Agony And Ecstasy. Considering Sir Bruno beat Angony And Ecstasy over 6f at Warwick, he may have the beating of Bell's juvenile. Not the easiest one to call. Luminous Star is a lovely-looking juvenile: compact and deep-chested. He seemed to enjoy racing here last time when just losing out and that course experience is certainly a benefit today. In addition, Sanders always rides a good race round Brighton and won't be lacking when it comes to the finish. The slight concern is that the form is difficult to assess with the winner not showing too much until that day and the third perhaps running below par. This distance has certainly brought about improvement after two initial starts at 6f. I get the feeling Luminous Star will run a big race today.

Of the rest, Constant Contact is worth noting if 9/1 & less. Balding has very good win and place statistics on his second start and defiantly worth bet a if in this price guide.

A difficult race to call with the form horses. All three have a chance although I wouldn't take a short price. Sir Bruno could run a big race although he is rather small. Constant Contact would be my selection if starting at 9/1 & less.

A watching race.

Race review: 'Not too much between these at the line with Luminous Star racing in a similar fashion to last time and just holding the Cumani debutant Pictures, who will be winning soon. Sir Bruno looked to have as good chance as any but tired in the closing stages.'
