2:50 Thirsk (16th June)

A restricted auction race for colts and fillies over 7f where a low draw is advantageous.

Jehu has run creditable races on both starts and will probably be suited by the extra furlong. Probably not anything other than an average horse, but a fair sort for this grade, he will run well today. The draw is a slight negative.

Jutland is well drawn and fancied in the betting. Johnston has many good juveniles although they can be rather indifferent at times. He has an adequate win rate on debut with all of his juveniles but they can be under priced.

Tom Tate is going well this season with his two-year-olds and Local Hero could have strong claims here. Costing 46,000eur and entered for the National Stakes in Ireland are all positive signs. Tate has a fair win and place rate on debut and certainly capable of winning first time out. This race will not take much winning and if Tate's juvenile has ability he must go close. Nolan (jockey) was booked early as Fenton has gone to Royal Ascot.

Of the others, Fantastic pick would be worth noting if well backed. Kerolad is a well-bred juvenile and cost a lot of money for the Wilson stable. It wouldn't be a surprise to see this juvenile improve.

An open-looking race. Channon and Tate's are most interesting.

A watching race.

Race review: 'A lively betting market with Bahamian Music backed from big odds while Local Hero went on the drift. This didn't look the greatest of races and Al Khimiya ran much better today and looked the winner until caught on the line by Jehu, who rallied to his first victory. Bahamian Music ran well on debut and was there will every chance until the last half furlong. Local Hero wasn't best away and was plugging on at the finish.'
