A competitive fillies listed race with prize money over £17,000.
Never the easiest of races to assess although a few of interest.
Simon Dow must have been delighted with the performance of Curtains at Royal Ascot and this speedy filly should run well. Jira was behind that day but may be capable of running better as she showed good speed but the draw, and running over the far side, may have been a problem. I feel that Brittain's juvenile will show more.
Karl Burke has been almost unstoppable this season with his juveniles and Jeanie Johnston won very easily last time although you have to wonder what the opposition amounted too.
John Dunlop's Mudaaraah won well at Folkestone and the form of that race has been boosted by the second and third. This filly by Cape Cross could be classy.
An outsider worth considering is Vanishing Grey. Meehan is a very talented trainer and this filly done well to finish as close as she did at Leicester as she was slow away and veered to her right before making good headway. If she has started on level terms I think she would have gone close to winning, and that was a good race for a maiden. This is a step in class but at fair odds she could have a fighting chance.
A watching race.

Race review: 'Not much separated many of these and a battle to the line. Jira may have been slightly disadvantaged by running from a high draw at Royal Ascot and today she prevailed with a narrow win. Jeanie Johnston has plenty of speed and looked for much of the way to have the edge of most but wandered slightly under pressure and lost out close home. Electric Feel ran well to take third. Curtains done little wrong and wasn't helped by the antics of Jeanie Johnston. Vanishing Grey may have suffered by running near the rail and travelled well for most. She has ability and will be winning soon.'
