A small field for this maiden over 6f.
On the face of it Izaaj must be a strong contender for this race. This juvenile ran well on debut and especially so when through inexperience he didn't have a race. I can see this colt by Giant's Causeway improving significantly.
Clan Piper was a short price on debut at Newbury but didn't show a jot. It may be the case that this was colt by Exceed And Excel has a fair level of ability having been entered for a stakes race and the Phoenix stakes (Group 1) in Ireland. Gosden is a very talented trainer, and if short priced again, it would probably be foolish to suggest this two-year-old cannot show improvement. At a short price, it would probably be wise to take a watching brief.
Rock Of Love didn't show must ability last time at Hamilton considering the winner that day has subsequently been beaten in a selling race. The step up to 6f will help but Johnston's juvenile has much to prove here.
Of the rest Fonterutoli has been entered to run in a stakes race. Marco Botti has a big string of two-year-olds this season and a well-backed winner a few days back.
A race where a number of runners have something to prove and at the prices there isn't much to be gained for taking a chance.
Izaaj will certainly run a decent race.
A watching race.
Race review: 'Izaaj was a short price and given a fright by Rock Of Love who left his Hamilton race well behind him. Clan Piper has been a costly failure on both outings and unless there is something mysterious happening doesn't possess ability.'
