Solace hasn't raced for over one hundred days but looks a major threat in this restricted event. John Gosden's charge races in the familiar green and white hooped silks of Miss K Rausing. This daughter of Canadian sire Langfuhr is a home bred out of Songerie who won impressively on debut and highly tried in her two-year-old career winning at Group 3 in France. At four, she raced at pattern class making the frame at the highest level. Solace ran well to finish fourth in a competitive Newmarket maiden on debut over 7f. On her next start at Goodwood, this chestnut filly was made joint favourite. A step up to a mile looked a positive move although she struggled to keep tabs on the leaders mid race and finishing 5th. That was a fair performance in the context of this race but perhaps slightly disappointing on the day.
By all accounts this is a drop in class and if taking after her mother will appreciate this increase in trip.
Racing against colts for the first time could make for a challenge but she should have the class to show the boys a trick or two.
