6:40 Kempton (24th November) Horse Racing Tips/Result

A 0-65 Nursery over 6f. A number of familiar faces with numerous form lines. Mount Mcleod has been bridesmaid so many times she's been kicked out of church. Jamie Osbourne will be determined to find a race for this daughter of Holy Roman Emperor. In truth, she has run well at this grade but each time manages to find something to beat her. Sonsie Lass was much too fast for the opposition last time and the only saving grace is that Mount Mcleod hasn't risen in the weight. A fair each way candidate but she has the knack of finishing second which doesn't inspire confidence.

Bountiful Cash has form lines with Mount Mcleod but a little worse off in the weights and a wide draw may not be in her favour. A juvenile with just enough ability to win a race but others may be favoured.

Finalist may go well today. This bay filly is related to a few speedy sorts but has been comprehensively outpaced over 5f. This step up to 6f and the blinkers applied for the first time gives the impression Dean Ivory means business. This daughter of Avonbridge was just over one length behind Mount Mcleod, when 5th to Mr Hendrix and slightly better off in the weights, compared to that day. The blinkers need to afford a better start because that has been a major problem, especially round this turning course. A difficult horse to assess but one who could improve if resolving those problems. I would expect this filly to finish well and if she can sit in a handy position may be the horse to beat.

Sweet Ovation is weighted to go close with Mount Mcleod based on their Southwell performance. Mark Usher is a canny old stick and he does quite well with his juveniles round Kempton. From a low draw, he is one for the short list.

Another of interest is Marah Music, for Peter Makin. A smart trainer, he doesn't keep two-year-olds for the winter all-weather racing unless they can pay their way and this first attempt at handicap level could be a positive move.

Conclusion: These lowly handicaps are never the easiest races to call. Mount Mcleod has been fancied on her last five races but keeps losing. At some point she may regress or gain that first win. A fair each way selection but will something beat her? Probably! Sweet Ovation is another who could have each way claims, taking advantage of a low draw. Finalist looks a difficult customer but could be something of a surprise package with blinkers and stepping up to 6f. If she can get away on terms, she could be the one to beat at fancy odds. Marah Music should be respected, especially if backed.

HCE: ''Never the easiest of affairs and this was a three-horse race with a furlong to go. Intomist was held just off the pace and ran on with zeal to challenge Finalist (2nd) & Copper Falls (3rd) who headed the field. Finalist was well backed from fancy prices this morning and appreciated this trip and the application of blinkers. The third has come back to form after losing her way mid season. A winner in the making at 5/6f.''

I pretty much agree with that , i do feel mount mccleod is worth laying at 3.2 ( keep ) or lower as it should show up then ultimately fail...marah music i feel is worth a dabble EW , hope your doing well mate and having a good day.

Hi Clint,

Thanks for your comment. I have been busy updating my stats. Been looking at John Gosden so will have a better idea of what he is up to late. I think it will be a watching day for me. Not too much of interest and 2yo nursery races are always a touch mad. Quite interesting in its own way but not sure if I would want to back any.

Hope you are having a good day with Newbury cards et al.
