Stormy Weather

A Saintly-Looking Cloud
A quiet day. In fact no two-year-old racing in Britain so I scoured around Europe to see what was on offer and noticed a couple of representatives waving the flag in Saint-Cloud,  France. Of all things Group 1 action with the Criterium International (Group 1) for two-year-old colts & fillies over 1m in soft ground. With winning prize money of £123,147 it should be  a hot contest. Andrew Balding sends his winning debutante Bonfire who is fancied at 10/1, while Gay Kelleway fields Swing Alone, who is the outsider priced 66/1. Good luck to both.

I have been reading my favourite blogs. Always something interesting to catch my eye. Winning. Losing. Humour. Eddie Straights hitting the headlines with his new pal Tracksuit Dave.

If you hadn't noticed, Hallowe'en is nearly upon us. I have a bucket load of sweets just in case the trick or treaters are out in force. Last year I had a selection of devils, vampires and tiny Frankenstiens hammering on the door. Terrifying. Although not as bad as carol singers  who usually come-a-knocking and corner me in the porch early December. Very embarrassing. There should be a law against people singing at your door. Especially ones who sing the same line over and over as they can't be bothered to learn the whole song. Talk about easy money.   I think I may get into the spirit of things: drink a bottle of whiskey,  dress-up as a Hill Billy in the style of a character from The Chainsaw Massacre & wield an axe above my head to anyone who knocks at the door. Thinking about it, there isn't enough room in the hallway to do that! I will carve a pumpkin instead. Leave it on the doorstep. Bung a load of sweets inside so perhaps the kids won't knock at all.

Don't forget to enter the HCE Spooky Tipping Competition. As I say: ''Don't be scared of backing a BIG priced winner.'' It's not every blog that gives away money just because it's Hallowe'en.

Okay, I had better start carving that pumpkin. I think this year will be a Simon Cowell design...and a little one in the image of Johnny Robinson (Carry On meets singing contest). If Johnny was a horse he would be a dark one.
