Gone Fishing...

That's me and my dog on a handmade raft floating down a river. You can tell it was years ago because the picture is black and white. My fishing rod was a twisted pea cane and line a piece of string. Strangely (it seems sensible at the time) I used to stick a big marshmallow on the hook, which was tempting enough to catch Moby Dick. We never caught anything. But those little minnows loved my sweets.

It has been many years since I last went fishing. I couldn't even tell you when the season starts and ends. But perhaps I should go fishing today. With October turning to the August we never had, and no two-year-old racing, it truly looks one of those days to do nothing but enjoy the day...
