2:20 Salisbury (10th October) Horse Racing Tips/Result

A Maiden Auction Stakes over 6f 212y on good ground. Serene Oasis has been running consistently and to all purposes this is a slight drop in class. Channon's horses seem in good form and this grey filly is a tough juvenile who battles well. Her last two runs set a fair level of form and although this daughter of Oratorio may be vulnerable to an improving two-year-old, she may well have enough ability to give these something to think about. A fair each way selection.

One of the principle dangers is No Compromise. Hughie Morrison is a talented trainer and his two-year-olds are always worthy of respect on their second start. This daughter of Avonbridge may have been a 50/1 shot on debut at Kempton but it didn't stop her running a big race. She didn't show any sign of inexperience and even managed to sit in a handy position after being drawn wide. I would expect a big performance from this filly and if drifting to an each way price would be a good each way bet.

With Fallon taking the ride, it is no surprise to see Theresnoneedfordat fancied in the betting. This horse makes the race by heading the market and even with the talents of his able jockey this runner well may drift in the betting. His debut effort at Windsor was no more than fair and the Brighton race was a puzzling affair. With Red Quartet taking a decent nursery since beating Pearce's juvenile, I would have reversions that race somehow flattered this youngster. He may go and run a big race. However, this looks a vulnerable favourite who makes the likes of Serene Oasis & No Compromise attractive each way bets.

Andrew Balding is a superb trainer and does remarkably well at Salisbury. Intransigent was a cheap purchase and runs in the colours of Kingsclere Racing Club. The stable are capable of sending out debutante winners although the betting is generally the best assessment of their chances. Juveniles priced 10/1 & less often indicate potential and feature fair place statistics although it usually takes one of their better two-year-olds to win on their race course bow.

Conclusion: Theresnoneedfordat could well have claims but for me makes this race and Serene Oasis and No Compromise are decent each way bets if price allows.

HCE: ''With the windy conditions it paid to run off the pace. Medieval Bishop and No Compromise were a fraction outpaced but finished well with the former just taking the spoils in a photo-finish. Haafdh Handsome was another to make good headway in the closing stages to take third.  Serene Oasis was given as an HCE Regular Tip and simply done too much in front just missing out on a place.''
