1:30 Newmarket (19th October) Horse Racing Tips/Result

A Median Maiden Auction Fillies' Stakes over 7f on good ground. Diala must have strong claims. This daughter of Iffraaj made a pleasing debut over course and distance when chasing home Lyric Of Light who has since gone on to Group 1 success. A 58,000gns breeze-up purchase, this bay filly is unlikely to attain such lofty heights but William Haggis clearly holds this two-year-old in some regard. I remember noting before her debut, that she held an entry for the Lowther (Group 2) and that initial effort confirmed she is potentially a smart juvenile. The form of that debut run has been franked and considering this is an auction race, it will take a fair sort to deprive her of a first victory today.

James Eustace has been quiet on the two-year-old front and that may have been half the reason why Fulney was allowed to start at odds of 100/1 for her debut at Leicester. This little filly by Dr Fong was always vying for the lead and looked very well in herself. Those who took huge odds on the exchanges must have thought this was there lucky day and after such a bold effort, she was unfortunate to be caught on the post by the late charge of Mark Johnston's Abishena. On balance, that looked to be a fair performance although it is difficult to assess the form. Whether she will have the class to compete with the likes of Diala may be a challenge. However, she looks a straight forward juvenile with pace and a battling attitude and may have each way claims.

Miss Cap Estel is an interesting horse. She was sent off a well-backed favourite for her second start at Haydock, which suggested a big performance was on the cards. However, this daughter of Hernando ran no race at all. She was a touch keen but never looked to be going and trailed home a long way behind the winner. Balding has dropped her back in distance. It will be intriguing to see how she fairs after that disappointment. The betting on that second start could be a significant pointer and it may be wise to expect a much better performance today. At speculative odds Miss Cap Estel could be a worthy each way selection.

Jellicle and Proud Pearl are closely matched on their recent Kempton running. Both ran creditably although were made to look rather one paced behind Whimsical. The form of that race has been franked but neither really sparkled and could struggle to go the pace and more is needed.

Of the others, Safe House should be respected, especially if backed, while Safarjal may have each way claims if backed to 13/2 & less.

Conclusion: Diala won't be much of as price but will take all the beating. The form of her debut has been franked by the winner going on to Group 1 success and she should progress from that initial start. Fulney is a likable, little filly. She may have place claims although the form of her debut at Leicester is difficult to assess which tempers enthusiasm. Miss Cap Estel may be worth a second chance after disappointing last time. The betting suggested a big run was expected that day and at speculative odds she could go well and have fair each way claims.

HCE: ''A comprehensive victory for Diala who is a filly to keep on the right side. There was never any worry about victory today and the smile on Haggis' face identified that she is potentially a smart horse. She has been entered for the Irish 1000 Guineas and will be  similarly entered for the British equivalent. Safarjal pipped Fulney for second.''
