My bets

Another quiet day on the two-year-old racing front. However, I did have a bet. The 2:20 Ffos Las was the venue. Sheer Vanity was only 2/1 tissue price but steadily drifted in the betting as money came for Million Faces & Gabriel's Bounty. McMahon's youngster, in the Fretwell lime green silks, touched 4/1, which caught my attention. This horse is a perfect example of why HCE Stat Bets ''Live'' is ideal. One moment this horse wasn't a bet - the next it was.
The place bet interested more than the win, but I was hopeful of both. I had a fair bet on the place at 1.6 and placed the potential on the win market at 4/1. Sheer Vanity was tardy from the stalls but in testing conditions I wasn't disappointed as I considered it was better to finish the race rather than struggle if pressing on. She ran well - touched 1.20's in-running. I tried to lay the potential win at 1.1. A decent effort, although surprised Beach Candy ran so well. Clearly she disappointed at Sandown. Probably no more than an average race.
