4:30 Wolverhampton - Result

A Maiden Stakes over 5f20y. A selection of colts and fillies with form but all have something to prove. Chillie Billie has been dropped back to 5f after showing good speed at 6f where he has touched big odds on in-running only to falter in the final furlong. The blinkers are employed and drawn next to the rail is likely to try and lead the way.

Sir Michael Stoute's Elite will go off favourite. This daughter of Invincible Spirit was slow away at Sandown and then struggled to go the pace. This is a lower class race but whether she in an even money shot is a matter of opinion.

Yeeoow has claims. A good-looking juvenile, he was quite well backed on debut at Hamilton and showed good pace before tiring in the final two furlongs. The form of that race has been franked although this youngster's performance that day is not the best guide to his potential. On breeding this son of Holy Roman Emperor gives the impression it needs further but the Burke team know their horses and after a break of over a month, I would expect a much better performance today.

Conclusion: On paper this looks no more than an average race. Yeeoow may be capable of better and at a speculative price has each way claims.

HCE: ''A poor race and easy winner in Little China. William Muir spoke well of this youngster detailing that her work rider said she went better than Stepper Point on the gallops. Regal Lady finished second, while the outsider, Compton Ashdown held third. HCE gave Yeeoow as a 1pt ew Elite tip selection. A disappointing effort which wasn't helped by a luckless path.''
