Mulrennan Injured After Riding Winner

Victory turned to tradegy for Paul Mulrennan at Musselburgh this afternoon when Sound Advice ran through the rails after winning on debut for Keith Dalgleish.

The 1:50 Musselburgh was an eventful betting heat with the son of Echo Of light - a home bred - being well backed from an opening price of 12/1 - 15/2. After stumbling at the start, he was many lengths behind and turning into the straight went alone to the stands' side rail, finishing powerfully to win by just under two length. However, victorious smiles turned to pain as Sound Advice continued to run straight through the rails rather than taking the righthand bend, unshipping Mulrennan who was taken to hospital with a suspected broken leg. Mulrennan who recently rode three winners at York had been in fine form, including a third at Royal Ascot on Stonefield Flyer. Sound Advice was later caught uninjured.
