6:40 Warwick (13th June) - Result

A median auction over 5f on changeable ground (good, good to soft in places).

This looks a speed-up with a few fiery youngsters with plenty of pace to burn.

Night Angel sets the standard. There isn't much of this little grey filly by Dark Angel. But what is there's fast. Millman is a canny trainer and he will be hell bent on gaining a win with this juvenile owned by The Links Partnership. She has progressed well with racing and the application of the blinkers has resolved the tardy starts which made life hard work in those first two races. She had the opposition well and truly beat over 5f at Brighton but struggled to last the final furlong. Night Angel is the horse to beat.

The comment above detailing a 'fiery youngster' is directed towards Stepper Point. I was rather hoping he would compete in a large field and be forgotten because this colt would have been a superb speculative bet. However, with a small field this son of Kyllachy isn't going to be much value although a very interesting contender. In truth he has two speeds: fast and stop. He showed very good pace on debut at Newbury and pulled too hard over 6f at Haydock but showed up for a long way. This 5f is ideal. Hopefully, Muir has been able to bring about a more composed performance today rather than full stream ahead without a breath. Stepper Point may try to lead all the way. There is little doubt he will travel very well but the only concern is that he may struggle to last to the line. If betting, I would definitely try and lay your stake at short odds in running and hope this speedster doesn't run out of gas.

Of the others Lana may go well for Michael Bell. A 50,000gns purchase at the breeze-up sales, this bay filly by Amadeus Wolf makes interesting reading. With the breeze-up experience behind her, she may be forward enough to run well. However, against some experienced, nippy, juveniles this would seem a stiff task and would need to be a talent.

HCE: ''Stepper Point ran out of breath. Well, he managed to lead all the way - touched short odds in running - but was overhauled by Pat Murphy's Pressure Drop, who ran on with vigour. Murphy has had three two-year-old runners this season and all look capable sorts. He has trained two other juveniles since 2007, one being the talented Ben. To have three runners in a couple of months is something of a transformation to the normal routine. He is a trainer worth noting. Lana ran well in third and should improve for her debut.''
