Right Result has been a hot favourite on both starts to date and narrowly beaten each time. In truth, this son of Acclamation has done nothing wrong and has enough ability to win a race of this nature. He showed good speed at Ripon and travelled like the winner for much of the way but didn't find a huge amount off the bridle when push came to shove. This drop back to 5f may not be any inconvenience although it may blunt his speed over this fast course. Fallon will be trying hard to get this youngster ahead at the line and as one of the most proven in the field has a fair chance of winning although could be prone to seconditis.
The most interesting debutante is Church Music. A private sale as a yearling for £42,000, Kevin Ryan should know this son Amadeus Wolf very well. John Fretwell is an owner worthy of note and it is additionally intriguing that they send this colt to York to make his race course bow. Many of Fretwell's juveniles which start their careers at grade one courses are talented horses. This runner has been backed on the exchanges and the Ryan two year olds have done well when supported this term. Gibbons was booked early to ride. Church Music is one for the short list and if strongly fancied could go well.
See Clearly was a very cheap purchase at 800gns but this filly by Bertolini is worth a lot more now. Slow away at Thirsk on debut, didn't give her a chance to show much promise but that last run at Carlisle was a fair effort. There was a little bit of money about that day and she is a tidy horse, with a nice, fluent stride. Leading for most, they went pretty fast and the way the other front runners dropped out at the furlong pole it could be the case they went too fast. It said a lot that Easterby's filly battled to the line, beaten by two horses which came from a good way off the pace. In ways it is difficult to assess that form. However, beating Rougini by seven lengths was a decent effort and it could well be the case that the first and second are talented juveniles. It is encouraging to note that both juveniles which beat her have been entered to run in the Windsor Castle at Royal Ascot. With support coming for Church Music, See Clearly may be a touch forgotten in the melee. Tim Easterby does well with his juveniles at York and this youngster has each way claims.
Richard Fahey' two-year-old horses must always be respected and he features a good win and place rate with his fancied juveniles on their second start. Pen Bal Crag showed promise on debut at Ripon when third behind the talented Parc De Launay. One for the short list and fair win and place claims if priced 13/2 & less.
Conclusion: Right Result sets the standard and should be there abouts but may be prone. The money horse is Church Music and should be respected as Ryan's juveniles have been in superb form and capable of winning on debut. Pen Bal Crag and See Clearly have each way claims.
