Recent Two-Year-old Results From Mick Channon

A visit to North Yorkshire yesterday began with disappointment in the opener as Grand Gold was beaten the shortest of short heads in the maiden with the race seemingly there for the taking.
Green on debut, Jaber Abdullah's colt hit the front in the final furlong only to fluff his lines and get collared bang on the line. There will be a race in him when the penny finally drops.
Not so Miss Muga, who has been running with great consistency in modest company before taking the seller in good style for the Bastian family straight after Grand Gold's near miss.
The first foal of Blakeshall Rose, Miss Muga is the very first homebred winner for Southampton based Dick & Ed Bastian, who have been friends of Mick since the dawn of time.....
"I go back a long way with the Bastian family and it's great that they are off the mark with the mare. This is a super little filly who is sound and will win again. She's a poppet, easy to train with a great constitution.
"Dick and Ed also have a Trans Island gelding and a Redback filly as two year olds this season, so we are hopeful for them and Miss Muga's win yesterday was an added bonus - we hope the best is yet to come."
